The White House tweets a picture of Donald Trump as a Sith for May the 4th…

You cannot make this stuff up

May the 4th is an important day for fans of Star Wars. We all share our love for the franchise and celebrate the films and shows we have dedicated ourselves to. Now, people on Donald Trump’s team has decided to post about the holiday as well…

The official White House account shared a picture of the President with two eagles behind him and the American flag. In the picture, Trump has a six pack, really muscular arms that are weirdly veiny, and he’s holding a lightsaber. Going to give you ONE guess to what color they made his lightsaber…

“Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire,” the post reads. With a picture of Donald Trump as a Sith Lord.

On the one hand, I don’t expect every single human to know the ins and outs of Star Wars. But if you’re going to say that the “Radical Left Lunatics” are trying to bring Sith Lords to this country, maybe don’t post a picture where the President of the United States is literally dressed LIKE A SITH LORD. That’s kind of counter productive.

And look, if they wanted him to have a “patriotic” lightsaber, Obi-Wan Kenobi, famous Jedi and not Sith Lord, has a blue lightsaber. There are options that are not red which is the very clear symbol of the Sith! Like George Lucas made it really easy with Star Wars: The bad guys have the red lightsabers! And yet even that was too complicated for the Trump administration.

I have always thought that Star Wars was pretty easy to understand. The ones trying to oppress people are the bad guys. Those bad guys have red lightsabers and we all knew that the Empire was not something to aspire to be. Which is probably where Trump’s Empire -er, team got confused.

Shows like Andor are really making Trump’s White House post really poignant. The Empire in the show also thought the Rebellion were the bad guys. So it is rich that the Trump administration, the ones in power, are seeing themselves as the ones rebelling. I’d laugh if it all wasn’t so terrifying to think about.

But the post really is just a mess of someone knowing it is Star Wars day and thinking that the President needed to post something (the White House did not). But the fact that the official White House called liberals the “Empire” is so incredibly out of touch and this mess of a post is going to be one that will go down in history as one of the worst things posted by the official White House.

You cannot even understand Star Wars and you’re in charge of our government? Save us, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re literally our only hope.
