‘The second amendment doesn’t care’: Adam Kinzinger is taking down a Trump sympathizer for justifying ICE murdering Alex Pretti

America is grieving the loss of Alex Pretti, an intensive care nurse who was holding a camera when ICE agents brutally shot and killed him on the streets of Minneapolis, but not the MAGA dimwits. They are instead subtly celebrating the incident and spewing their own stories around it that are far from the truth. One of the most popular ones is that Pretti was yielding a gun when he was shot multiple times by ICE agents in self-defence.
The MAGA crowd is desperately trying to justify the actions of the ICE agents who shot Alex Pretti, and in doing so, are also trying to defend Donald Trump’s deployment of troops from the law enforcement agency. All of us saw the video in which Pretti was brutally shot, and in none of the clips available online on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) was he seen possessing or drawing a gun to threaten the agents. But, Trump’s army of buffoons would like to believe otherwise. Throughout social media, they are trying to victim-blame Pretti, alleging that it wasn’t in good taste for him to take a gun to protest ICE agents. One among such people who believe the actions against Pretti are reasonable is conservative columnist, former White House Director of Speechwriting, and frequent Fox News contributor, Marc Thiessen. Taking to his X account on January 25, 2026, Thiessen wrote:
A man shows up to interrupt an ICE operation armed with a gun and two ammo clips and gets into a confrontation with ICE agents, resists arrest. Why is the presumption that the ICE agents are in the wrong?”
Marc Thiessen’s remarks on the incident were soon refuted by popular Trump critic Adam Kinzinger, who shared his post on his X account and wrote a few lines highlighting how his beliefs surrounding the event were wrong. He wrote:
You’re kidding me right? The second amendment doesn’t care that he has extra ammo. The second amendment doesn’t care that he was protesting. The second amendment doesn’t care about your deep desire to date Donald.”
Soon after Adam Kinzinger shared this post, his comments section was flooded with messages, with most appreciating him for calling Thiessen out for his malicious comments about Alex Pretti. Many people shared collages juxtaposing Alex Pretti’s image against Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, who was responsible for the Kenosha unrest shooting that saw the deaths of two men and another being severely injured, suggesting that if it was okay for Rittenhouse to be armed during a protest then it should also be acceptable for Pretti to posses a gun under similar circumstances.
