Everyone is back in the ER for the new season of The Pitt! The hit HBO series brought Noah Wyle back to the hospital and now we’re returning to Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital on the Fourth of July!

A new look into season 2 dropped as part of HBO’s 2026 release slate drop today. “And so it begins,” Wyle says as Dr. Robby in the overall look at the upcoming slate and it is enough to have fans talking. As the Pittsburgh girl who loves the show, I do appreciate Langdon’s (Patrick Ball) Penguins hat. But that also means that Frank is back at work after his addition issues last season.

There is a lot to unpack with the first minute of season 2 so let’s get into it.

Did I cry and say “I love my city” as soon as I watched this? Yes because the show does a great job honoring Pittsburgh as Doctor Robby rides into work on a motorcycle. And it is well worth it to see Wyle rocking a big jacket on the back of it. Even if it is supposed to be summer in Pittsburgh (buddy, that’s too warm!).

But the sneak peek is a reminiscent of how season 1 started. Doctor Robby is heading into work, we get to see glimpses of Pittsburgh, and it establishes that it is July 4th. Well, that and I got to see PNC Park so I was a happy little fan of The Pitt.

Can’t wait to see how our doctors handle the holiday

One of my “issues” with season 1 of the show is that it didn’t necessarily feel very Pittsburgh to me. Not enough black and gold and “yinz” for my taste. But the show is a compelling and thrilling medical drama. It’s why I ended up so invested in the show with only a few full body chills over inaccuracies. Like why did Nurse Dana (Katherine LaNasa) say “Yous” when she’s supposed to be from the Pittsburgh area?! Get that Philly speech out of here!

It does seem though that season 2 took those criticisms to heart (from what I can tell). And so it makes me incredibly excited about the upcoming trip to the ER! Our doctors are back on January 8, 2026.
