Christopher Smith just wants to be the best hero he can be and sometimes, that’s a struggle. And in the season 2 trailer for Peacemaker, we can see that even saving the world isn’t enough to get Chris some respect.

Peacemaker was a “villain” of sorts during The Suicide Squad. He ended up killing Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) and now his actions are catching up with him in a new look at season 2! The hit show from James Gunn took us into Chris Smith’s life as a vigilante and working with a team to try and be a better hero for everyone in his life. He fought back against his racist roots, made new friends, and now he’s going to have to answer to Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo).

The logline for season 2 is as follows: “The new season follows Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”

The cast for season 2 includes Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick are back for season 2 of Peacemaker. The series will include a few new cast members, including Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows.

All of this is exciting for fans of season 1 of Peacemaker. The series made many of us, myself included, care for Chris Smith and we all thought it was an impossible feat. But Peacemaker allowed us to see a new side of Chris. He was vulnerable, he tried to be a better man, and his friendship with Leota (Brooks) helped to make him a more lovable character.

Let our team be heroes!

The journey of season 1 of Peacemaker was Chris understanding that to be a hero, he needs to know how to trust people around him. And from what I can see in the trailer for season 2 is that it does feel like the show is going to allow Chris and his friends to be just that: Friends.

It’d be easy to put Peacemaker right back to the way he was before. It’s great tension, it’d show that he can’t change, and you could make a show all about how he’s always going to be a villain. Instead of doing that, Gunn and Cena have made Chris a character that shows that even the worst guy out there can change and I kind of love that about Chris.

Season 2 is going to have to deal with a lot and we cannot wait to see what awaits Chris Smith and his friends. As long as Eagly gets his time to shine.
