Shohreh Aghdashloo Joins the Star Trek Beyond Cast For Reshoots

Recommended Videos

Star Trek Beyond has just circled back around to reshoot some additional scenes, now including a brand-new character: Shohreh Aghdashloo of Grimm and 24 will join the cast in the role of the High Command of the Federation, according to Deadline.

The phrase “High Command” in the Star Trek universe usually refers to the Vulcan High Command — but there’s no mention of Vulcans in the initial report, so it’d be hard to hazard any concrete guesses about Aghdashloo’s character. The Emmy Award-winning actress has definitely played high-powered political leaders before, such as on SyFy’s The Expanse, so she’s definitely cut out for a “High Command” role!

The movie had finished initial shooting and was in editing stages only a few months ago, so something during the editing process must have inspired the team to turn back around and draft out some re-shoot plans. Director Justin Lin has already assured everyone he wants to “be bold and take risks,” as displayed in Beyond‘s love-it-or-hate-it trailer. It sounds like Lin is also willing to circle back around and rework everything if need be, which sounds like a good sign.
