A Sam’s Club shopper went viral on TikTok after spotting a strange pattern in the aisles. Everywhere he looked, people seemed to be hauling around the exact same TV.

Grandpa Jim Jim (@travels.with.gp.j), who posts everything from casual moments to full-blown travel adventures, said he walked into his local Sam’s Club and immediately noticed the rush.

What happened at Sam’s Club?

“I walk into Sam’s Club today and I see almost everyone with large yellow boxes in their carts,” Jim says in his clip, which had more than 1.9 million views. “Everywhere you turn, carts with yellow boxes.”

It didn’t take long for curiosity to win. Jim says he grabbed one, too.

“I decided I had to join the party,” he says.

He eventually shows what everyone was chasing: Vizio’s 50-inch HDR smart TV, which Sam’s Club was selling for just $128. Jim says the deal was so good, the TVs flew off the shelves.

“They were all sold out within the 45 minutes that I was there,” he shared.

What Is Sam’s Club Selling?

Sam’s Club shoppers really are loading up their carts with the same item, and yes, there’s a reason.

The warehouse chain was, at one point, selling a VIZIO 50-inch Class 4K Series LED Smart TV for $128, a steep drop from its usual $198 (the price reflected on the Sam’s Club website). It’s part of an instant savings promotion, and like most Sam’s Club deals, it’s only available while supplies last.

Online, the TV is already marked out of stock, but some stores may still have units left. An Ohio-based Sam’s Club posted about the deal on its Facebook page earlier this month, but noted that it was already over. It ran through November 17, though it’s clear from Jim’s video that many locations didn’t make it to the end of the sale before selling out.

Shoppers who have managed to grab one say the TV is a solid buy for the price. Reviews on Samsclub.com highlight the vivid picture quality and call it a great value overall. A few people mention that the built-in sound is decent but more rounded with a soundbar, and several note that setup is quick and easy.

So the short answer to what Sam’s Club is selling is a 50-inch VIZIO 4K smart TV at a price low enough to cause an in-store frenzy. If you want one, it might be worth checking your local club or calling ahead to see if you can take advantage of the deal—even if the deadline for it has technically passed—because once they’re gone, that’s it.

Viewers Question Whether The Deal Is Worth It

People who watched Jim’s video weren’t entirely sold on the frenzy. Some argued that even at the sale price, the Vizio wasn’t much of a bargain.

“All that for $70 off lmao,” one user said.

“Vizio TVs are trash,” another insisted. “That’s the worst TV you can buy.”

A third argued, “That’s exactly how much a 50-inch Vizio should cost.”

“That’s a horrible deal for a 200$ TV,” someone else added. “It’s only like 30% off. Should have waited until Black Friday.”

Others noted that Sam’s Club wasn’t the only spot offering the TV for that price.

“Walmart has it for the same price,” a man pointed out. “I bought 2.”

“I got it for even cheaper at Walmart,” another shopper said, explaining they snagged an extra 10$ off with an employee discount and got it delivered free.

“My daughter and I got one each at Walmart for $128,” a different commenter shared.

And not everyone was ready to trash Vizio. Some said the brand had held up just fine for them.

“Why everyone hating on Vizio? I have one since 2015 and the mofo still going,” one person said. “It is no longer my main one, but it is in the guest room doing just fine.”

“Everyone saying they’re trash, but I’ve had my 55” for 5 years and it’s been great,” another wrote. “I mean, I also don’t have kids or anyone else messing with it, just me.”

What did Jim say?

In a message to the Mary Sue, Jim says he has not opened this one up just yet.

“I plan on replacing our garage TV with this one. I did buy a second one as a Christmas gift,” he said, adding that he’s had Vizios in the past with no issues.

He continued, “I was amazed one at the response and two of how people were comparing high end TVs with a very cheap TV. There is no comparison when you look at an OLED compared to this TV, but you are spending a fraction of the cost.”
