Los Angeles woman thrifts $40 fur coat. Then she gets more than she bargained for after finding this in the pocket: ‘The wealth redistribution system’

When it comes to thrifting, you can always expect to find some hidden gems. But for one TikToker, it was a lot more literal.
In a viral clip, which has amassed 1.1 million views, Los Angeles-based TikToker @future.mrs.heart flaunted what she described in the description as the “best $40 I’ve ever spent.”
Striding in her black fur coat, she said, “Holy [expletive]. I just found a ring in the pocket of this jacket.”
As she said this, she held up the ring to the camera so viewers could get a closer look. The gold ring had a stacked appearance, with two rows of tiny diamonds in the middle. “Do we think that’s real?” she asked viewers.
This video was accompanied by on-screen text reading, “I found a diamond ring in the pocket of a coat I thrifted.”
The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment.

What did the comments say?
In the comments, users shared similar experiences.
“I bought a man’s jewelry box at a yard sale for $1 filled with tubes of silver dollars and dimes,” one claimed.
“I found a sandwich bag with a 4carat diamond ring, diamond Cartier bracelet, Rolex watch and some gold bracelets, broken necklaces and gold rings inside some boots I got at Goodwill,” another shared.
While a third added, “I bought a purse and there was $50 in one of the pockets. I guess the person returned it after using.”
However, other commenters weren’t convinced this was genuine.
“And just happened to have a camera recording…” a fourth wrote. “Funny how your phone was on when you found the ring,” a fifth echoed, while a sixth declared, “It’s clickbait, there is no diamond ring.”
What happened next?
The TikToker issued two follow-ups about the ring.
In the first one, she explained that she found the jacket after seeking a replacement for a similar one she was given by her mother. She also remarked how, while real golden rings are often stamped, this isn’t the case for older antique rings. In light of this, the user revealed that she was planning to get the ring appraised and to contact the person who sold her the coat.
After the appraisal, she issued her final follow-up, revealing that, after all this, the ring was actually costume jewelry.
Over on Reddit, countless other users had similar stories.
However, none of these users seemed concerned about trying to reunite these trinkets with their original owners. The posts focused on trying to appraise or determine the value of these items.
Woman finds over $2,000 in Goodwill piggy bank
Finding treasures in thrifted products is more common than you might think.
TikTok user Katrina (@miles8katrina) went viral after finding $2,028 cash inside a $10.99 piggy bank she purchased from Goodwill.
While commenters begged her to keep the money instead of giving it to “greedy” Goodwill, Katrina ultimately called the store in case it was donated by accident.
