Rep. Jasmine Crockett is calling out the Trump administration’s racist and anti-immigrant behaviour in a new video, and I am all here for it
During Donald Trump’s second term as the President of the United States, Representative Jasmine Crockett has become one of his most vocal critics, repeatedly calling him out for his wrongdoings. One of the key issues that Crockett has often clashed with Trump and his administration over is his approach to immigrant populations living in the country.
Since becoming President again this year, Donald Trump has been actively pursuing measures to crack down on the immigrant population of the United States by identifying “illegal aliens.” He is doing this with the help of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which has been conducting raids across the nation, detaining individuals and deporting them. However, these raids are not being conducted in the most ethical ways. If you go to X (formerly Twitter) and search for “ICE raids” right now, you will find countless videos where ICE agents are mishandling individuals they suspect to be undocumented immigrants. People are being forcibly removed from their homes, workplaces, and cars, handcuffed, thrown to the ground, and dragged into vehicles. If you closely observe these videos, you are likely to notice a common trend: the people being questioned by the agents often do not exhibit enough “whiteness”, indicating that officers are targeting only those they believe could be undocumented immigrants based solely on their appearance, which highlights ingrained racism. Thus, under these conditions, a black or brown person has a much higher chance of being targeted by ICE agents than a white person does, and that is sick and twisted.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is shedding light on these issues and others concerning the Donald Trump administration during a recently held committee meeting. While criticising Donald Trump’s immigration policies, Crockett remarked:
President Trump has made it clear that he only opposes lawful immigration when non-white people immigrate to the United States. His immigration agenda isn’t about public safety, economic stability or jobs. It’s about racism. It was racist during his first administration. It’s racist now. And like his first administration, he’s hired a bunch of races to carry it out.”
She continued her rant against Trump stating that he is now admitting to referring to “majority black and brown” nations as “shithole countries” while also adding that Trump consistently describes brown and black individuals as “low-IQ, stupid, or nasty,” which leads her to believe that Trump’s agenda is focused on “giving racial preference to specific individuals” who wish to immigrate to America.
