Per the usual, Marc Maron is right about the “free speech warriors”

The party of free speech thinks that they can say whatever they want without consequence and yet are forcing consequences on left-leaning individuals. If you want “free speech,” that means free speech for ALL. And comedian Marc Maron is reminding everyone of that fact.

Jimmy Kimmel has been taken off the air indefinitely because of his “comments” on Charlie Kirk’s death. The comments in question were pointing out the hypocrisy of MAGA and the Right, who have spent days trying to put their own hatred onto Tyler Robinson and “other” him instead of accepting that there are signs pointing to him being right-leaning.

Kimmel’s quote has since gone viral after the news of his show’s pause and many are speaking out against the censorship happening because of it. One of those people is Maron. In a video posted to social media, Maron said that now was the time to act if you care about free speech.

“It’s happening. Jimmy Kimmel has been muzzled and taken off the air by his network ABC,” Maron said. “This is government censorship. This is the Trump administration coming after people who speak out against him.” Maron then went on to tell people watching to speak up if they have “any concern” about the future of free speech.

In the video, Maron called out the so-called free speech warriors for their lack of care about this. “This is what authoritarianism looks like right now in this country, it’s happening,” he said. “So if you’re a free speech warrior, or you really talk the talk about protecting free speech, this isn’t about saying the ‘r-word’ or the ‘t-word’ or any of that, this is government censorship.”

Maron finished the video by saying, “Look, if they can come for Kimmel, they can come for anybody. This is happening. It’s time to act.” And he’s right. If they’re coming for late night comedians this aggressively, what is stopping them from coming for civilians? Free speech means we can voice our opinions and our different political views. What the Trump administration is doing is trying to silence that.

It is not okay, it is terrifying, and, as Maron says, if you’re a supporter of free speech, now is the time to stand up and say something.
