How Many Episodes of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Are There and When Does Each Release on Disney Plus?

A series that can give you a new hope.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Star Wars series poster.

What feels like a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Ewan McGregor last donned Jedi robes for a Star Wars movie. The glorious trailer for the Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi finally brought us back to that special time in 2005. Taking place about ten years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, the show depicts a sad and tired Kenobi. He feels the brokenness of the universe and the weight of the Jedi failure. On Tatooine, he watches Luke Skywalker grow up from afar.

Alas, the Jedi Master cannot live his days in peace. Inquisitors, the Empire, and his old friend-turned-foe Darth Vader are hunting Kenobi down. But who expected him to just be relaxing on Tatooine? Obi-Wan has too much conviction to just lie low.

Several actors from the prequel trilogy join Ewan McGregor in the limited series. This includes Joel Edgerton (Uncle Owen) and Bonnie Piesse (Aunt Beru). Those of us who were young padawans when the prequels came out are rejoicing over Hayden Christensen’s return as Darth Vader. Truly, he was perfect as Anakin, and I cannot wait to see him as a young, tormented Vader.

So when can we see more? Streaming only on Disney Plus, the official release date is Wednesday, May 25. Also, the day marks the 45th anniversary of the Star Wars: A New Hope theatrical release. What a day to celebrate!

Your Obi-Wan Kenobi Watch Party Schedule

Obi-Wan Kenobi follows the now-standard Disney Plus release schedule. After the first episode airs on May 25, each new episode will premiere weekly. Here is a list to set your (virtual or in-person) watch parties by:

May 25 – Episode 1

June 1 – Episode 2

June 8 – Episode 3

June 15 – Episode 4

June 22 – Episode 5

June 29 – Episode 6

Sadly, there will only be six episodes to enjoy and watch on repeat until the next Star Wars show comes along. However, we can bask in the light of the two Tatooine suns while we can.
