Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Donald Trump out for his insensitive comments about Rob Reiner and his wife’s death
Nearly two days have passed since the incident occurred, and people around the world are still in disbelief. On December 14, 2025, multiple news outlets reported that Rob Reiner (78), the legendary actor who featured in projects such as When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and New Girl (2012–2018), had passed away.
Sources like TMZ reported that Rob and his wife, Michele, were found lifeless in their Brentwood home, with lacerations consistent with knife wounds on their body. This tragic discovery was made by one of their daughters. The same report mentioned that Bob and Michel Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, was currently being held in police custody and questioned due to complaints made by the daughter, who had located the two bodies, and had notified the authorities and asked them to consider him as a possible “suspect, as she believed him to be “dangerous.”
Since news of Rob Reiner’s passing emerged, multiple public personalities have come forward to share their condolences. Many have taken to social media, including Zooey Deschanel, Reiner’s New Girl co-star, who shared a heartfelt post on Instagram along with a few pictures of herself with Rob expressing her devastation over the news. In the post, she referred to Reiner as the warmest, funniest, and “most generous of spirits.” She also called him a “good human being”, an “incredible artist”, and a “playful and fun collaborator”, while noting that she cherished the time she got to spend with him while collaborating on multiple projects, which has contributed to her being the way she is at present. Deschanel also briefly spoke about Michele Reiner, noting that she and Rob were always very “kind” and that it brought her immense “joy” to witness them together.
With that being said, while there are multiple posts by public personalities expressing their sorrow over Rob Reiner’s passing, there are a few people who are acting as insensitive as ever while discussing his demise. On December 15, United States President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to voice his thoughts on the matter and shockingly attributed Rob Reiner’s (a fierce and vocal Trump critic) death to “his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS (a made-up syndrome/disease he loves to diagnose people with who disagree with him). Trump’s comments drew sharp criticism from people all over the internet, including MAGAs who requested that the post be taken down. Some prominent personalities also spoke against Trump’s remarks about Rob Reiner, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, who, in an X post, criticised Trump for politicising the event and demanded the matter be treated with “empathy.”
