Man Withdraws $54,000 From His Card To Buy 500 Copies of GTA 6. He Thinks They’ll Sell Out: ‘No Way This Is Real’

Get rich quick schemes rarely produce the desired result of actually making you rich, but that has never stopped people from trying. One man online has supposedly come up with one such scheme in the form of what he believes to be an ingenious plan revolving around the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
According to viral claims the man plans to profit off of the upcoming GTA 6 by purchasing 500 copies and reselling them. TikToker “@hai.on.life” posted a video showing his reaction to the man’s outlandish plan, writing in the caption, “Brilliant plan, but who’s gonna tell him?”
The man in the original video claimed that he had withdrawn $54,720 from his 401k in order to purchase the 500 copies. The plan was to then resell the games at an inflated price to buyers who had missed out on their chance to purchase it. The man states his belief that, upon release, GTA 6 will quickly sell out, leaving gamers with no choice but to turn to re-sellers like him.
“I’m thinking, this is the most anticipated game,” he confidently states, “It’s gonna be sold out. They’re gonna have to come through me to go ahead and buy it.” The man then confidently claims that he could potentially make triple the money he’s spent on purchasing the 500 copies, suggesting he’s intending to sell his copies for three times the price.
There’s one flaw in the plan
The original video has not been confirmed as factual but for that man’s sake we hope it’s not real, otherwise he’s just thrown away almost $55k. You see, GTA 6 is going to be an exclusively digital release meaning there will be no physical copies. While there’s plenty of reasons to hate the digital-only approach Rockstar is taking, it does mean there will be no chance of it selling out, after all, how can a digital game ever run out of stock?
While there will be physical game cases, there will be a download code in place of an actual disk. This means that buyers won’t be as desperate to pay this man for one of his 500 copies as he probably thought they would. Nobody is going to pay three times the price for the case alone, especially when the game is already being $80-$100 depending on the version you purchase.
This means the man’s “genius” scheme will likely leave him with 500 download codes he won’t need. However, viewers on TikTok think the man was just trolling as they pointed out the clip he shared shows that the order hasn’t been completed, “He didn’t even complete the order, he trolling,” one comment reads. Others expressed doubts, writing, “no way this is real.”
