Los Angeles Man Asked Guys in a Street Interview if They’d Leave Their Kids With the Man in the Photo. Their Answers Were Unexpected: ‘And the Conclusion Is?’

Never has there been a better example of man vs. man than this clip on TikTok. Even without the bear in the equation, the clip suggests some men are also reluctant to trust male strangers around children.

Anthony (@allstaranttt) conducted a street interview with men. He asked them if they’d feel safe leaving their children with the man shown in the photo. Anthony showed a photo of the man he interviewed to the next one he’d approach over the same question.

Surprisingly, all the men answered a resounding “no” to the question. They all had different reasons, but they all came to the same conclusion.

“Would you feel safe leaving your kids alone with that guy?” Anthony asked the first man, who was shirtless with a backpack. The photo appeared to show a middle-aged man with glasses, a beard, a blue polo shirt and khaki shorts. Overall, the man didn’t seem to pose a threat.

“Oh, hell no. Absolutely not,” the respondent said. He continued, “He’s a man.” When asked by Anthony if other people would agree with his assessment, the man nodded. When Anthony showed the shirtless man’s photo to the next respondent, he also answered no.

“Oh, hell no,” the man in the black, loose-fit shirt with chain necklaces said. His reason was, “He just looks like that.” It’s almost interesting that both men had the same initial reactions. Nevertheless, the man in the loose-fit shirt also thinks other people would not trust the shirtless man.

Random answers to the street interview

Anthony then showed the photo of the man in the loose-fit shirt to another respondent wearing a floral garland.”No,” he unsurprisingly said. But his reason wasn’t just vibes-based. The garland man said, “I don’t like his outfit.” The next respondent was even more blunt.

“He chopped, I don’t know,” the man with the shades said. The man with shades didn’t fare any better, as the man with dreads that came after him thought that the person in the photo had a creepy smile. “He looks like a fun uncle,” the man with dreads added. Perhaps being the fun uncle is an immediate red flag.

“He looks a little crazy,” the man in a white shirt said about the man before him. If the clip suggests anything, it is that the men interviewed were wary of leaving children with male strangers. Their reasons varied, but each respondent shown expressed distrust of the stranger in the photo. They do not know who the man is, and many people would be uncomfortable leaving a child alone with an unvetted stranger.

The answer to Man vs. Bear

Even without the bear in the equation, the clip suggests that some men may also be reluctant to trust male strangers around children. Although online echo chambers would show some men upset that women wouldn’t choose to be alone with them in a forest versus a bear, the street interview showed that men also heavily distrust other men.

So, if men won’t choose the man for their children, why, in any theoretical scenario, would they choose the man over the bear for their girlfriends, sisters, or wives? The comparison is not exact. Still, the clip undercuts the idea that distrust of unknown men is limited to women.

One comment on TikTok reads, “And the conclusion is?” Another praised the first man on the clip and said, “First bro had the perfect answer.” In the end, the person in the photo is still just a random man. Even if he had a trustworthy look, he’s still a stranger.

But a commenter pointed out the obvious answer to why all of the men were saying no in the video. They said, “Not one person said ‘because I don’t know him.'” People fear what they don’t know—and leaving children with a man sounds like the start of a horror movie. Given what’s been said in the interviews, hopefully, society wouldn’t expect vulnerable populations to place their trust in strangers.
