Because it wasn’t enough for them to give us an unauthorized look at Full House or Saved By the Bell. Lifetime now wants to bring the 1990s back with full force by giving us unauthorized looks at two of the decade’s most popular guilty pleasures: Beverly Hills, 90210 and its spin-off, Melrose Place.

Lifetime released the first images of the casts of both projects today (90210‘s is above, if you couldn’t tell), and I’ve gotta say, many of the cast members look very much like their real-life counterparts. And, as befits any film about a show and its spin-off, these two films will exist “in the same universe,” so to speak, with Dan Castellaneta (of The Simpsons fame) appearing in both films as soap producer-extraordinaire, Aaron Spelling and Adam Korson (of Hot in Cleveland) in both as Co-Exec Producer, Darren Star. Could an Unauthorized Sex and the City film that includes Korson as Darren Star be far behind?

One thing I’ve gotta say is that, of the two shows, the 90210 film seems to have their 90s fashion in check. Meanwhile, Unauthorized Melrose Place cast? There’s not nearly enough denim, floral print, or lady vests in that photo. Step it up, Lifetime!

Unauthorized 90210 airs on Saturday, October 3rd, while Melrose Place airs Saturday, October 10th on Lifetime. Will you be watching?
