The Republicans can lie as much as they want about their approval ratings going up and the Democrats’ going down, but their empty words do not stand a chance against facts.

Saturday, 18th October marked a historic moment for Americans as thousands (potentially millions) gathered in multiple cities across the country to say no to kings and protest the current pseudo-dictatorial administration. This happened despite the Republicans, especially Donald Trump and Mike Johnson, launching a hate campaign against the movement in the days leading up to it, dubbing it the “Hate America Rally” and linking it to “Hamas” and “pro-Antifa” groups. Speaking of evil and delusional behavior, Trump also tried to appeal to his MAGA-minded followers by creating an AI video of himself flying a fighter jet and dumping mud over individuals leading the ‘No Kings’ protests and participating in them. I mean, how does the President of one of the largest democracies (alleged) find time for things like this?

Nonetheless, the ‘No Kings’ protests saw a significant footfall, with many people sharing pictures and videos on social media showing roads filled with protesters opposing the Trump administration. These nationwide protests on October 18th gained support not only from regular citizens dissatisfied with the government but also from several celebrities who joined the demonstrations, including the Internet’s favourite boyfriend, Pedro Pascal, known for The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, and John Cusack, famous for Sixteen Candles and Grosse Pointe Blank. Others, such as Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Kimmel, Glenn Close, Spike Lee, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ben Stiller, expressed their support from afar through their social media platforms.

A person sharing a video from the protests wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“Today, 7 million people came out to protest Trump at 2,700 different locations. This is now officially the largest protest in American history. America will not go quietly.”

Many others also shared footage and their feelings about the demonstrations on social media. It is fair to say that America wants ‘No Kings’ to rule them.
