Kevin Feige on the Not-So-Obvious Ant-Man and Civil War Connection That Could’ve Been

Do I need to warn you there's spoilers for Ant-Man in here? Fine.

Marvel Entertainment chief Kevin Feige is totally on a roll with these “ha ha we almost made this thing but we didn’t, wouldn’t have this been cool” teasers lately. Spoilers for Ant-Man follow because seriously go see it already.

Feige regaled /Film with more details about some cancelled plans that involved having show up in . If you’ll remember, we mentioned that he already confirmed that she’d be showing up in phase three, but we just didn’t know when.

She was included in early versions of Captain America: Civil War but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out. With Ant-Man, and I’m not saying thats what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we’ve already seen him. We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we’re saving it. But its going to be in Phase three for sure.

Okay. So to be fair, that actually seems like the right call. Do it right or don’t do it at all. It sucks to have to wait a little longer to see , but Feige’s right: it would have been pretty awkward to not give her the screen time she wasn’t afforded in Ant-Man.
