This is not a drill – the man, the myth, the legend – Joss Whedon is on Twitter.

For years we had fake Joss Whedons popping up on twitter but somehow, some way, the real Joss Whedon would stand up and say, “Ha! Like I’d ever get a twitter account.”

And now he has. So far he’s not been verified by Twitter but if you were worried this was another fake out, put those fears to rest. Maurissa Tancharoen, executive producer on SHIELD and Whedon’s sister-in-law, told us it was legit.

Should we chalk it up to Disney/Marvel/ABC telling him he had to get more engaged now that Agents of SHIELD was going to be a real thing? (Check out the first promo!)

As of posting, Whedon had just over 32,000 followers. How long do we think it will take for him to hit one million?

Edit: He’s now @JossWhedon.
