The Epstein saga didn’t need more fuel, but a deeply unsettling clue just emerged — and it’s hard to ignore

US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman announces charges against Jeffery Epstein

There continues to be a lot to unpack in the more than three million pages of declassified files related to Jeffrey Epstein. In between horrifying revelations and random correspondences, there has been a lot revealed about Epstein’s online footprint. And it has now branched out into a sort of conspiracy theory.

The files have led some Internet sleuths to discover the handle littlestjeff1, which is believed to have been Epstein’s username on YouTube. On Friday, a listing on the third-party website Fortnite Tracker showed an account matching the same username… which had been active just a few days ago in Israel. The account showed 10 hours of gameplay in Fortnite and a total of seven Victory Royales, all of which were during the winter 2024-2025 portion of the game known as Chapter 6, Season 1.

This quickly sent online theories flying: that Epstein might not have actually committed suicide, a possibility that has been its own can of worms since his death first occurred in August of 2019. But the idea of Epstein secretly hiding out in Israel while squadding up in Fortnite was quickly debunked.

A few hours after the theories starting spreading, one of Fortnite‘s official social media accounts quickly got into the conversation. They confirmed that the account activity was not tied to Epstein himself, but rather another player who changed their username to match his once it was publicly known.

“Hey Official Fortnite here – this was a ruse by a Fortnite player,” the statement reads. “A few days ago, an existing Fortnite account owner changed their username from something totally unrelated to littlestjeff1, following the revelation of littlestjeff1 as a name on YouTube. These Fortnite trackers only display your current name, not any prior changes to it. We have no record of the subject’s email addresses referenced in the public document existing in the Epic account system. Since the public document releases, people have created Fortnite accounts with similar-looking email addresses and user names.”

Here’s What Video Game Jeffrey Epstein DID Play…

So, no… Epstein is not secretly banking Victory Royales in Fortnite while hiding out on another continent. But the recently-declassified files did reveal a video game that he appeared to have a penchant for, and it’s definitely a lot to unpack.

For one thing, an email from December of 2013 reveals that Epstein was permanently banned from Xbox Live for “harassment, threats, and/or abuse of other players.” A follow-up email confirmed that the ban was because Epstein was already a registered sex offender for years by that point, but had reportedly not created an Xbox account until October of 2012, so it had taken some months for Microsoft to coordinate with law enforcement to shut his account down.

A report from Kotaku also verifies that the files contain multiples instances of Epstein sending people very NSFW animations related to the horror video game Five Nights at Freddy’s. The images in question were verified to have come from 4Chan, and were apparently sent multiple times to Epstein’s last known girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak, in 2017.
