JD Vance can’t even hold Ohio State’s trophy properly without dropping it

vance got a trophy

Trophies are heavy and hard to break. Unless you’re JD Vance, I guess. The Vice President took the championship trophy that Ohio State won and broke it. Way to honor your alma mater, Vance.

Ohio State was visiting the White House after their National Championship win. The Ohio State Buckeyes went to celebrate (ew) at the White House and the rest is now in infamous history. The video is kind of funny. Vance picks up the trophy from the top and it breaks off from the base. Trophy 101: Do not grab it from the top! A lot of trophies are bottom heavy.

Vance then stood awkwardly with the trophy in hand as another member of the team held onto the base that was just left on its own. Again, okay. Vance tried to make a joke about the situation,  saying on X, “I didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy so I decided to break it.”

The team then presented the President with a “Trump 47” jersey and the band Queen’s “We Are the Champions” played. What is it with the Trump administration playing songs the bands would not like them playing? Anyway, the moral of the story here is that JD Vance broke a trophy. I know people are probably laughing and smiling and giving him grace but not me. You’re ruining the lives of so many people and you think it is cute that you broke a trophy?

A lot of the replies to Vance’s tweet were praising him, saying they “loved it” or this is the Vice President they voted for. Why? Because he broke a trophy and the MAGA side of the coin has a sense of humor akin to a 3 year-old? I think it is funny watching a man break his own alma mater’s trophy. They think it is somehow charming.

Anyway, I hope Ohio State has some super glue.
