J.J. Abrams Stops Playing Coy; Commits to Star Trek Sequel

To Boldly Go

After months of simply stating that he was “interested” in directing the next Star Trek film, after singlehandedly, controversially rebooting the francise by wrenching it into a completely different nominally canonically connected alternate universe, J.J. Abrams is officially directing… Star Trek 2?

We don’t actually know what the movie will be called. I mean, there’s already a Star Trek II. Maybe they’ll number these with Arabic numerals instead of Roman ones.

That won’t confuse anyone.

There is also no word on the plot of the movie. The script itself is still in process, though Alex Kurtzman is said to be finishing it up for next month so that filming can begin this winter. ScreeRant theorizes that Paramount will aim the release date for the summer of 2013, and it’s hard to disagree with their logic.

She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
