Indiana mom’s desperate dash for freedom crumbles as police recover 1 piece of evidence seals her fate

A horrific tragedy.

Jenna Strouble, a 30-year-old woman from St. John, Indiana, was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, on nine counts of first-degree murder in Illinois. This significant development comes after a chilling triple homicide in Unincorporated Crete, Illinois, that occurred just the day before. Authorities allege Strouble is responsible for the deaths of her children’s father, 32-year-old Jacob Lambert, and his parents, 54-year-old Stacy Forde and 55-year-old Patrick Forde.

According to People, the Will County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest via a Facebook post, confirming that Strouble was taken into custody in connection with the horrific incident. Police were initially called to a residence in Crete Township around 2:00 AM on Monday, March 23, after receiving a request for a welfare check from a concerned family member.

When authorities arrived, they discovered the bodies of two men and a woman. All three were residents of the property, identified as Jacob Lambert and his parents, Stacy and Patrick Forde. Lambert was found dead in a car parked in the driveway, while his parents were located inside the home on the first floor, near the front door.

Direct evidence proved that the murders weren’t random acts

A major breakthrough in the investigation came with the recovery of a firearm. Officials were able to confirm that this weapon matched the one used in the killings. The sheriff’s office stated that their preliminary investigation indicates this was a targeted case, suggesting it wasn’t a random act. During interviews with detectives, Strouble reportedly made “incriminating statements” following the homicides, which certainly adds another layer to the charges.

Investigators also revealed that Strouble and Jacob Lambert shared children and had an on-again, off-again relationship. This fact is indicative of a complex personal history between the alleged perpetrator and one of the victims.

Following the incident, Strouble allegedly fled to her home in St. John, Indiana, which is approximately eight miles away from the crime scene. She was subsequently arrested at her residence. The Will County Sheriff’s Office extended their gratitude to the St. John Police Department and the Lake County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office for their swift response and full assistance throughout the investigation.

Currently, Strouble remains in custody at the Lake County Jail in Indiana. She will stay there until she is extradited back to Illinois to face the murder charges. As of Wednesday, March 25, the Will County Sheriff’s Office had no further updates to share regarding the case.
