Franz Ferdinand Is Mad the IDF Used Their Song: “If I Had a Nickel for Every Time Franz Ferdinand Was Involved in the Precursor Events of a World War”

band

Franz Ferdinand told the Israel Defense Force to stop using their hit song in a new propaganda video. Millennials of all stripes immediately started humming “Take Me Out” immediately.

The second single from Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled album finds itself back in the spotlight for the most bizarre reason imaginable. IDF social media posted their song in the background of veritable war crimes. And, Franz Ferdinand decided that they didn’t want to be the second most consequential entry on Wikipedia with that name around a World War. Millennials, as you would expect, had a field day with this information on social media..

One user said on X, “If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.” Everything has a weird veneer right now. We’d be in agreement with Crant Oliver. He said, “A song about the assassination that started WWI being stolen and used in propaganda videos in support of the assassination that’s starting WWIII, too on the nose.”

So, we hurtle onward in the dumbest timeline imaginable. Multiple world governments are just trolling on main. The populace is dealing with rapid spikes of gas prices. And, for good measure, the Wall Street folks are at ease because the President of the United States said the war was over. Keep in mind there was/is no “official war” and Trump has been untruthful at best for the better part of a decade.

On Instagram Stories, Franz Ferdinand’s lead singer Alex Kapranos took issue with the IDF using their song in a post celebrating “Operation Roaring Lion.”  Iran people have been dealing with air strikes from United States and Israel forces for a few weeks at this point. Though the president says that the war is pretty much concluded, there’s nothing to suggest that people on the ground should believe those assertions.

A number of American troops have already died along with the school children in those multiple bombings. It is hard to understate how much of a hit the country has taken on the international stage along with the needless loss of life in Iran.

Kapranos told his followers, “These warmongering murderers are using our music without our consent. This makes us both nauseous and furious. Kind of typical though, isn’t it? To strut up and take what isn’t theirs with a vile arrogance…”

This isn’t the first time that Kapranos took issue with a Trump administration decision. Back during the first term, he tweeted some incendiary commentary on the state of American politics. The singer said, “This feels like a f****** up nightmare of a Christmas Eve where you hope your present isn’t going to be Armageddon.”

He would continue in 2016, “Have I actually woken up? Or am I typing this as part of the nightmare? Feels horrifyingly real. It must be a particularly nervous morning in the Baltic states and Ukraine. The best that we can hope for is that the worst of his promises were lies. I hope that the POTUS elect is a man of no conviction. That he played people’s prejudices and fears, but will let them down. That he is motivated purely by vanity and ego, rather than genuine hatred.” Eerie honestly!
