ICE agents told a physician to ‘back off’ while Renee Nicole Good bled and died

Humans cannot become ICE agents.

ICE agents told a physician to back off from Renee Good

After Renee Good’s car crashed, the immediate violence was over and the supposed “weapon,” her SUV, was disabled. ICE agents were also already on scene, and no one was being chased or firing anymore. This is the moment when emergency medical care should have begun. But it didn’t.

One of the most damning videos surrounding Renee Nicole Good’s Jan. 7 murder are of the scenes after the shots were fired. One video shows Good’s SUV crashed into a parked car down the street and bystanders moving toward the vehicle. But federal agents soon circled around the scene, and began shouting at people wanting to help.

One bystander approached the scene, raised his hands and calmly asked the ICE agents, “Can I go check her pulse?” But he screams a violent “NO” and asks him to “back off” immediately. When the man repeats that he is a physician, the agent again responds flatly: “I don’t care.”

It’s true that the ICE agents could not take his word for that he’s a doctor. But, they could have asked him for his license and let him help. Yet, they chose to assert dominance and dismiss him entirely. The ICE agent attending to bystanders did not even try and reassure the crowd. Moments later, another agent intervened to manage the interaction.

“We have medics on team,” he said. “Just give us a second.” But when you’re seeing someone bleeding to death, you do not have seconds to waste. Hearing the agent’s response, one frustrated woman in the crowd demands to know where those medics are. “Where are they? WHERE ARE THEY?” she shouts. But the agent simply asks her to “relax.”

Bystander lashes out at ICE agents after Renee Good’s murder

The agent’s response infuriates the woman even more, and she unleashes all her pent-up rage over the situation:

How can I relax you just killed my f-cking neighbor. You fired in her f-cking face. You killed my f-cking neighbor. How do you show up to work everyday. How the f-ck do you do this everyday. You’re killing my neighbors, you’re stealing my neighbors. What the f-ck man.

Her reaction is raw and uncontrolled. But it is grounded in something very real. A woman was bleeding in a crashed car while those in authority argued over who is allowed to help. It’s sad, aggravating, and horrifying. The video does not show ICE agents providing first aid to Good, and Medics also haven’t arrived during this exchange.

What the video does show is a medical professional attempting to help and being prevented from doing so. Having already witnessed what ICE agents can do, the physician does not argue or force his way, he steps back. This wasn’t mid-altercation, it was when medical aid was possible, but delayed. Agents simply asserted authority and promised medics who were not yet visible, while Renee Good remained unattended.
