‘I need a REAL break after this one:’ Megan Thee Stallion Splits with Klay Thompson
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion announced her split with Dallas Maverick shooting guard Klay Thompson following a scathing Instagram post. Stallion alleged that Thompson was unfaithful during their relationship.
“Cheating, having me around your whole family playing house… God, ‘cold feet.’ Holding you down through all your horrible mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season, now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???” Stallion posted on her Instagram story.
She ended with, “Bitch, I need a REAL break after this one… Bye y’all.”
Shortly after this, Stallion confirmed her breakup with Klay Thompson through TMZ. Her representative told the tabloid, “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
The post was a shocking revelation for fans of the rapper, going viral online in different spaces. Many of them were in disbelief, asking how anyone could ever cheat on Megan Thee Stallion. Many more were furious at Klay Thompson over the allegations of unfaithfulness. But some social media users also showed concern over Stallion having to withstand Thompson’s mood swings.
Aside from accusing him of cheating, there were no mentions of abuse from Stallion. Overall, it’s simply disheartening for Stallion, who had been publicly affectionate to Thompson during their relationship.
A short-lived timeline of Stallion and Thompson’s relationship
Stallion and Thompson were rumored to be dating on July 12, 2025, after Klay Thompson posted a photo of himself kissing a woman who had her back turned against the camera. Social media was quick to speculate that it was Megan Thee Stallion. Other basketball players commented on the post and cheered Thompson on.
But it wasn’t until the couple’s red carpet debut in New York City at the Pete & Thomas Foundation—Stallion’s own nonprofit foundation—that Stallion and Thompson hard-launched their relationship. Ever since, the two have been seen together doing a variety of activities—from cooking and dinner dates to everything else in between.
Later in the year, the couple seemed to be moving in a serious direction with their relationship. Multiple reports suggested that Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson bought a house and moved in together. Fans cheered this move, and Stallion posted a photo of the home.
Now, Stallion seems to have purged all content related to the NBA star on all of her social media accounts. Footage of them spending time together as a couple is no longer accessible. It’s surely a whirlwind romance for a couple that has only been dating for less than a year—it doesn’t get any more serious than moving in together, after all. Everyone was rooting for them, and fans couldn’t get enough of Stallion being a lover girl.
But if her allegations are true, Megan Thee Stallion definitely needs to get lucky in her next relationship. The rapper has alleged infidelity as a reason to split up with her exes as well. While it’s not the worst thing to happen to her, given her turbulent history with Tory Lanez, it’s definitely disappointing, as she had also allegedly been cheated on by her other exes.
One thing’s for sure: Megan Thee Stallion needs someone who’s serious about her and can match her hot girl aura. Klay Thompson simply didn’t make the draft.
