‘His trial will be very interesting’: Trump gets caught in a lie as Pete Hegseth admits to live-streaming the Venezuelan boat strikes

For the past few weeks, United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has been under intense public scrutiny. The situation has escalated to such a degree that even one of his strongest supporters, President Donald Trump, is making little effort to defend him.

There is no doubt that Pete Hegseth is unsuitable for his current government role. I mean, the man couldn’t even do proper pull-ups (if you have been following his antics, you probably know what I am talking about). While that was amusing to watch, the reason Hegseth is currently embroiled in controversy is not funny at all. In September, Pete Hegseth launched an attack on Venezuelan boats in the Caribbean Sea, suspecting them of drug trafficking. As reports of the incident emerged, it was revealed that the first strike left two survivors on the boat willing to surrender, but a second strike was carried out nonetheless. Decisions like these rest solely with Pete Hegseth, and he has faced significant scrutiny since it emerged that he unlawfully ordered to attack the vessel a second time.

Recently, speaking to reporters about the incident, Donald Trump said that Pete Hegseth had denied giving the orders for a second strike, adding that if he were in his place, he wouldn’t have issued such orders and promised to conduct a thorough investigation. However, new video clips of Pete Hegseth have surfaced, showing him on Fox News stating, “I watched it live,” referring to the attacks on the boats before adding, “We knew exactly who was on that boat. We knew exactly what they were doing, and we knew exactly who they represented.” He then discussed the motives of the alleged “narco terrorists,” claiming they were trying to poison America with their “illicit drugs.”

Hegseth’s admission to having live-streamed the attacks, along with the subsequent reversal of his words after accountability started to be demanded, has revealed his true nature: a dishonest manipulator. It has also exposed the character of the Trump administration and the type of individuals it harbours and protects. Social media has also taken cognisance of the matter.

One person on X reacting to the incident stated:

“Yup…he watched it…saw it…and ordered a double tap…and didn’t even break a sweat.”
Several others on the platform echoed similar sentiments, wishing for him to be prosecuted under law, but doubting he ever will due to his strong ties with President Donald Trump,” another individual stated as several others shared similar sentiments about Pete Hegseth.
