Even Jeff Goldblum Wants to Go to The Cottage

The chatter around Heated Rivalry is becoming impossible to ignore. Even if you’re not caught up on the juggernaut of a series, the rising popularity of its stars and the swoon-worthy moments are still permeating out into the larger pop culture.

That’s especially been the case for “The Cottage”, the set piece of the show’s recent Season 1 finale. It’s gotten to the point of it becoming the new go-to celebrity interview question, and none other than Jeff Goldblum provided a perfect reaction. While on the red carpet of the recent Critics Choice Awards, Goldblum was asked by E! if he has “heard of” Heated Rivalry, and has “been to the cottage.”

“I want to say yes very badly, I can’t in all good conscience, I chopped down the cherry tree, I’ve never told a lie. No, no. Heated Rivalry? I’m an idiot, you know,” Goldblum said. Once the interview provided an NSFW elevator pitch for the show, Goldblum’s reaction changed. “Wait a minute, stop right there. That’s the end of it. Of course, I haven’t seen it. I want to see it. I’ve heard great, great, things.”

Did Goldblum need to be asked about a show that he has absolutely no involvement with? Not necessarily. But the Jurassic Park and Wicked star is certainly no stranger to giving delightfully confused soundbites on a red carpet. I, personally, will never forget his exasperated reaction to Sony and Marvel Studios’ brief “break-up” over the Spider-Man movie rights at the D23 Expo in 2019.

So, in a way, he was kind of the perfect person to ask about Heated Rivalry and “The Cottage”… both because whatever answer he gave was bound to be unique enough to go viral, and because he genuinely sounded enthusiastic once he clocked what the show even is.
