‘Has anyone checked the bathrooms at Mar-a-Lago?’: Stephen Colbert torches Trump for dragging his feet on the Epstein Files

During Donald Trump’s second term as President of the United States, one of the individuals who has emerged as one of his strongest critics is comedian, writer, producer, and talk show host Stephen Colbert. It’s not that he wasn’t a Trump basher earlier, but his demeanour was considerably toned down, compared to now, when he is much bolder and more vocal. I believe that is what happens when someone repeatedly tries to get you out of your job and tarnish your reputation.
If you already didn’t know, Trump and his army of MAGA goons almost got The Late Show with Stephen Colbert cancelled indefinitely on CBS last year. Not only that, to this day, almost every time Colbert makes a joke about Trump or says anything, for that matter, which is very much rooted in reality, he takes offence and goes on a rant on Truth Social, asking for his show’s cancellation. Trump also often claims that Colbert is unpopular and unfunny. Considering all of this, I believe Colbert’s hatred for Trump comes from a place of frustration, and it is justified.
Notably, a video from a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is currently circulating on social media and has garnered significant attention. In it, Colbert can be seen delivering a monologue and bringing up the controversial Epstein Files, highlighting that they had been pushed under the rug by the Trump administration, as the leader in chief features heavily on them, which he does by the way. While looking at the camera, Colbert said, “Where are the Epstein Files? Where, where are they?”
Colbert continued, noting that Americans were told that the Epstein Files would be released in full by December after Trump signed the bill to release them into law in November last year but that the President and his office were unable to deliver on their promises because they were all paedophile protectors. His words in this context were:
We were told, I remember we were told there would be Epstein Files. In fact, you signed a law mandating that you would have to release the Epstein files by the middle of last month, but you still haven’t. It kind of makes you seem like a… what’s the phrase? Pedophile protector!”
As Stephen Colbert’s video gained popularity, many people had a lot to say. While some people lauded Colbert for his courage and his straightforwardness and abused Trump for literally just existing, some, especially the MAGA people, believed that Colbert should be removed from his show (again).
