‘Goodwill doesn’t care anymore’: Florida woman goes to Goodwill. Then she sees a $12 Tipsy Elves Christmas sweater on a mannequin

One Goodwill is displaying some interesting, not safe for work, Christmas sweaters this year. That’s at least what one Florida woman found when shopping for some items.
“ There’s no way that they have this. Stop. What is going on here?” said Ceci (@cecigoesracing), a TikToker, while looking at an explicit sweater of three reindeer “having fun.”
The inappropriate sweater appears to be from the popular, self-described “tacky” Christmas outfitter, Tipsy Elves. Online, identical naughty reindeer sweaters sell for around $24. Ceci managed to snag the sweater for $12. She found humor in its design but struggled later to feel comfortable wearing it in public spaces.
But, is it normal for Goodwill to display fun yet inappropriate sweaters during the holiday season?
Does Goodwill display anything these days?
Commenters were quick to supply their own harrowing Goodwill finds in comparison to the naughty reindeer outfit. One posted about a magic wand found in-store. The used toy was sitting on a shelf with its cord neatly wrapped up. The commenter simply added, “Goodwill doesn’t care anymore,” referring to the store’s lax policies when putting things out for sale.
It’s possible that a store representative had no idea what the magic wand was and simply set it for sale, assuming it was a normal item. Goodwill stores receive thousands of donations, leading them to have countless items to sort through per day. That means it’s possible that certain unsellable products fall through the cracks.
Others have found urns with real human remains in them or ashtrays with used cigarettes at their local Goodwill locations. This can happen as both shoppers and thrift store workers don’t look through donated items before placing them on sale.
Reddit posts echo that sentiment
In an r/askreddit post, a person asked, “Goodwill/Thrift shop workers of Reddit, what is the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen donated?” Many of the items didn’t necessarily match what you’d expect to find at a local thrift shop.
As one commenter said, “I worked at Goodwill for a year and I saw the weirdest things come in. There were two sets of fake breasts that came in. One was a test kit for determining what size implant you want and the other was a set of stick-on fake tits to fill out a bra. The sticky ones were really fun because if you threw them really hard they would stick to the wall and make a HUGE clapping noise. A giant creepy jack-in-the-box clown was donated and scared the sh–t out of everyone. I found a capped tooth in a kids toy one day which was odd.
Other redditors described finding items related to sex in their donations, crates of grenades, bags of lawn clippings, or used sanitary napkins.
A Goodwill in Florida even found a live grenade this year. This prompted police officers to remind their community to check through their donations before dropping them off.
