Woman has bad feeling about going on date. She ends up being right when he crashes out after she didn’t order protein with her pasta

When you see things like protein popcorn, protein pasta, and protein milk on grocery shelves, it’s safe to say we live in a protein-obsessed time.
That is particularly confusing because the average American already consumes enough protein, according to Johns Hopkins.
Still, the message that we need more protein is everywhere. Apparently, it is now so widespread that it can make a first date implode.
TikTok creator Amanda Martinez (@amandalmartinezz) shared exactly how that happened in a video that got over 185,500 views.
What Happened on the First Date?
“I should have listened to my gut feeling and never went on this [expletive] date today,” Martinez says at the start of the video. “We got into a huge argument. I might have cussed him out, and I left.”
According to Martinez, the date started normally. They got to the restaurant, and he looked like his photos, and the two seemed to be getting along.
Then the waiter came to take their order.
“I ordered pasta,” Martinez says. “Waitress is like, do you want to add a protein to your pasta?”
Martinez says she declined because she is a vegetarian, and the protein options were meat and seafood. That was where the date took a turn.
“Apparently, this is homeboy’s trigger,” she says. “Immediately, he’s like, no, get a protein, get a protein. You should have a protein. You shouldn’t eat a meal without a protein.”
Martinez says she tried to keep things light at first. She repeated that she was fine with her order, and the waitress eventually walked away.
When her date kept pushing, that is when Martinez explained that she had been a vegetarian for more than a decade.
“How people respond to me telling them I’m a vegetarian is a major red flag,” she says. “Because what I do with myself has nothing to do with you, and whatever you do for yourself has nothing to do with me.”
He Allegedly Started Lecturing Her About Her Diet
Martinez says she told him her vegetarianism began after she learned about factory farming in college. Later, she says, she also found out she had kidney disease.
“It’s in the best interest of my organs to keep me alive and healthy if I limit my protein intake and specifically animal protein,” she says she told him.
Instead of letting it go, Martinez says he launched into what felt like a speech about the carnivore diet.
“I was not expecting for him to invite me into his TED Talk about the carnivore diet,” she says.
Martinez says he told her the vegetarian diet was bad for her and that she should be following a carnivore diet instead.
At that point, she reminded him of the kidney disease.
“I was like, did you miss the part that I said I had a kidney disease?” she says. “He’s like, yeah, what does that have to do with it?”
Martinez says she told him it had everything to do with it, because the carnivore diet would be the worst diet for her to follow.
“The last time I checked, you’re not a nephrologist,” Martinez says. “And he was like, what’s that?”
“That’s exactly my [expletive] point,” she says.
She Says He Tried to ‘Cure’ Her Disease With the Carnivore Diet
Martinez says the conversation only got worse after he asked for the name of her disease.
“The tone of it was kind of giving that he didn’t believe me,” she says. “I was like, it’s called polycystic kidney disease.”
According to Martinez, he continued acting as though he knew what was best for her body.
“I really was sitting here like, is this man really about to mansplain me my own [expletive] disease?” she says. “Inaccurately, though. Like, the audacity.”
Martinez says she explained that there is no cure and that the goal is to follow the healthiest lifestyle possible to preserve her organs.
Then, she says, he made the comment that ended the date.
“He’s like, if you followed a carnivore diet, I bet you in six months your disease would be cured,” she says.
Martinez says she was stunned by the confidence and the lack of empathy.
“You have no idea what you’re talking about,” she says. “You have no idea what the disease means to me or my family or how it’s affected, as you literally have no idea.”
So she asked him to prove he even remembered the condition he was lecturing her about.
“I was like, so spell it,” she says. “If you know so much about it, and you’re such a [expletive] expert, I was like, go ahead and spell it.”
According to Martinez, he could not.
“So you already know,” she says. “I don’t stick around anymore for dates.”
She asked for the check, got her pasta to go, and left.
It Is OK to Leave a First Date
A first date is partly about seeing how someone reacts when you say no, explain a boundary, or tell them something personal. In her case, it went badly.
If your comfort or safety is at risk, you do not owe the person your time or politeness. It is OK to leave quickly, use an excuse, call a friend, or ask venue staff for help.
It is also OK to leave when someone is simply showing major red flags. That can include things like being rude to staff, asking invasive questions, making sexual comments after you redirect, ignoring your preferences, touching you without consent, and more.
You do not have to wait for a date to become dangerous before deciding you are done.
Viewers Said She Did the Right Thing
In the comments, viewers were firmly on Martinez’s side.
“My auntie is a nephrologist and i showed this to her and she said ‘she knows her worth! She deserves someone who respects her,’” one commenter wrote. “Girl, you did the right thing!! Slay Queen.”
Others loved the moment Martinez asked him to spell her disease.
“‘Spell it’ is freaking iconic,” one person wrote.
Another commenter guessed the man’s media diet.
“He listens to jordan peterson,” they wrote.
