It’s no easy feat to reprise Julie Andrews’ iconic Oscar-winning performance as Mary Poppins, which probably explains why its taken 54 years for a follow-up film worthy of its beloved predecessor. But early buzz for the film says that the sequel is delightful, led by a charismatic performance by Emily Blunt as everyone’s favorite magical nanny. And according to this newly released featurette, everyone agrees that Emily Blunt is perfection in the role.

Director Rob Marshall (Chicago) says of his star, “Emily Blunt is the perfect Mary Poppins, there would be no film without her.” And none of than Queen of All Acting Meryl Streep agrees, saying “It is a part she’s born to play. She’s got a great sense of comic timing, she’s just practically perfect in every way.

We’ll have a review up soon for the film, but I caught an early screening and can confirm that Blunt is luminous in the role and the film is a heartwarming and hopeful delight. Are you excited for the return of Mary Poppins?
