Chicago DoorDash driver asks if he can take a picture of woman holding her Taco Bell. Then she hits him with an Uno Reverse: ‘He got annoyed’

Minimal social contact is expected when ordering through a food delivery service. All the driver does is drop off your order in a designated spot, snaps a photo of it to submit on the app, and drives off like a ghost in the night. Once in a while, you may be faster than them swinging open the door as soon as they approach your doorstep. And the interactions don’t always go as planned. In fact, it can backfire like it did to one Chicago-based woman with her DoorDash driver.

What Did This Woman Say To Her DoorDash Driver?

In a nine-second clip, comedian and show host Elle Orlando (@_elleorlando_) recalls the incident to over 197,000 viewers.

“So, the DoorDash delivery guy asked me if he could take a picture of me holding my Taco Bell,” she says in a monotone voice. When she humorously tried to turn the tables, he didn’t appreciate it. “Then, he got annoyed when I said, ‘Now, let’s take one with my phone.’”

Viewers Appreciated Her Quip

Unlike her driver, Orlando’s joke landed with viewers in the comments section.

“Honestly a great joke,” one viewer commented.

“If true, that’s hilarious,” another concurred.

Meanwhile, others recounted stories of how their drivers unknowingly had the same sense of humor as them.

“UPS driver took my picture with my package,” one commenter revealed.

“Deep within my emails, there is a doordash email of me in pokemon pajama pants, no shoes no socks, shirtless hunched over like a gremlin grabbing my taco bell order because I saw the dasher coming down the stairs and was faster than they took the photo,” a second stated.

A third even rewarded her driver. “I once had a door dash lady get my dog peeking thru the blinds!! I gave her an extra tip for the laugh,” they shared.

What Are Delivery Drop-off Photo Requirements For DoorDash Drivers?

DoorDash mandates its drivers to capture high-quality photos for ‘Leave At My Door’ (contact-less) deliveries. Drivers must snap a photo and confirm the delivery. From there, the customer receives the digital receipt through their inbox. However, a low-quality snapshot can prevent the dasher from having access to orders. So, how do they capture the perfect drop-off picture? For those not well-versed in this art, DoorDash guides dashers through instructions on their website:

  • Add features around the location such as a doorway, trees, and outdoor decorations.
  • The order bag must be clear.
  • Photos have to be well-lit and clear. Flash is optional if there’s poor lighting

There’s no specific policy about including the customers in the photo. However, alleged drivers and even customers have experienced this in an r/doordash subreddit.

“Yeah I always take a pic even if they present themselves on leave at my door orders, I just explain I have to take a pic or DD gets mad at me and they’re always cool about it. Lol,” one Redditor said.

“That’s what my dashers do. They ask me to hold it or they set it down first ,” a second wrote.

Regardless, failure to provide proof of delivery can result in deactivation.
