‘Enable the pin setting’: Minneapolis Woman DoorDashes herself Chipotle at work. Then she sees where the dasher left it

DoorDash is usually a straightforward, convenient process—but there’s always the chance of things going wrong. For TikToker Alyssa Anne (@aly.ssaanne), her experience with DoorDash was so “terrible,” she has vowed to never use the service again at work.
She opened up about the situation in her car in a video that has amassed 5,244 views. The on-screen text reads, “Terrible DoorDash experience storytime.”
Like many people, Anne decided to order DoorDash while at work. She explains that as she watched the driver on the app, she noticed how they seemed to drop it off on the street. This raised alarm bells for the TikToker because there is a designated food order stand at the parking lot that she asked the driver to go to. However, it looks like they didn’t.
Anne then tried to open the photo of her order, but noticed that the Dasher had only taken a photo of the building. It was the direct opposite of the side it was meant to be on. Still, she says she walked to that side of the building to see if the food was there. It wasn’t. Anne also noted how she called the DoorDasher six times, and also texted multiple times, but says she was ignored. This led her to the conclusion that the Dasher stole the food.
“So, that might be the last time I ever order DoorDash at work because I am not risking that happening again,” she concluded. “All I can say is I hope she needed it more than I did, and maybe she was too broke to buy her own food.”
Anne didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment and email. We reached out to DoorDash via email.

‘It’s to be expected’
While some commenters were empathetic over Anne’s situation, others were more concerned about her attitude towards DoorDash as a whole. “Did you report her?” one asked. “I’d be so upset if that was my food.”
“Call them and raise hell,” a second recommended. While a third suggested, “Just report it and your money will get refunded or credited, your choosing. Happens to all of us and will eventually happen again. You have the hungry who sign up simply for a free meal and then theres a $50 bonus for the first delivery.”
Others urged Anne not to give up on DoorDash because of this.
“I’ve had 3 bad experiences with DoorDash,” a fourth shared. “Always got my money back when things went wrong but I’ve had around 50 smooth experiences. It’s to be expected because not all the Dashers are going to be good but most of them will be great.”
“That’s not DD…it’s the person…” a fifth emphasized. “I have over 12,000 deliveries…Common sense is hard for some people…Sorry that happened to you…!” And a sixth insisted, “I’ve delivered over 10,000 deliveries, never stole anything.”
Is there a workaround?
In the comments, several users claimed that Anne could have enabled the PIN setting on the app. This would mean that the customer needs to give the Dasher a PIN number. The driver would input the number, completing the delivery. This, in theory, should help prevent theft.
While the PIN option is effective, there’s no evidence that users themselves can enable the PIN setting. It looks like this is something DoorDash generates itself for certain high-value orders. Or if the customer has complained about missing food in the past.
Still, when you are on the ‘checkout’ part of an order, you can always choose the ‘hand it to me’ option. This is so the driver can directly hand over your food. On the customer’s end, this feels like the most foolproof way to prevent any foul play with your order.
