Donald Trump tries to justify Epstein buddytime, because ’90s was different’ — what does that even mean?

Donald Trump may not be addressing the allegations against him and his government concerning the Epstein files. However, he is doing everything in his power to clear his image, even at the cost of sounding problematic.

Based on an article published on The Wall Street Journal on September 24, 2025, Donald Trump allegedly called out people for being too fixated on Jeffrey Epstein and his infamous files. He also defended his former friendship with him, mentioning that the times were different back then. His exact words, as quoted by the publication, read:

“Palm Beach in the 90s was a different time.”

For those who are uninformed, American financier and registered se* offender, Jeffrey Epstein, and the current President of the United States, Donald Trump, are considered to have been close friends during a highly controversial period. This was when Epstein engaged in his criminal activities involving child prostitution and pedophilia.

Trump, who was pictured with Epstein on several occasions during the time, is believed to have also been involved in his offences. However, time and again, he has refused to acknowledge his relationship with Epstein and defended himself, citing that their friendship was long over before he got involved in the malpractices.

The Wall Street Journal, in the same article mentioned before, highlights a comment from Jack O’ Donnel, former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino president. He speaks about their friendship and mentions Trump visiting Epstein several times in Atlantic City. Although the timeline of their friendship is not made clear, he considered them to be best friends.

Over the years, multiple people have challenged Donald Trump‘s comments on the Epstein case and have requested the release of his files. The same contains the names of several big-shot celebrities and influential people who were discreetly involved with Epstein and his offences. Many believe that the files contain Trump’s name. They also believe that he and his party members are protecting the documents as it is capable of tarnishing his image.
