A First Look at Season 2 of Adult Swim’s ‘Three Busy Debras,’ a Series About Debras Being Absolute Debras

"We're not people, we're Debras."

So today I learned about the Adult Swim series Three Busy Debras and spent way too much time watching clips online about three pretentious, slightly unhinged women who are the very definition of “first world problems,” complete with moments of grand insensitivity like, “Oopsie doopsie, we ran over the pool boy, where is the pool boy to clean up his own mutilated corpse?”

Also? I think they hate each other? Maybe? Or at the very least delight in making one Debra feel inferior to the other Debras. Listen, here’s a clip from the first season to better explain what I’m trying to say because I’m not Debra enough for this.

What the heck is Three Busy Debras?

Three Busy Debras

According to Deadline, Three Busy Debras, “follows the surreal day-to-day lives of three deranged housewives, all named Debra, in their affluent suburban town of Lemoncurd, Connecticut.” The second season promises to be more of the same, the trio continuing to act like they are above us mere humans and, therefore, can only be described as Debras.

The press release for season two continues with the vague description of the series, letting the clips speak for themselves. “It’s time for brunch, and the second season of Three Busy Debras is on the menu! The Debras are back and more Debra than ever, taking Lemoncurd by storm in a season that is so busy, it could only be Debra.”

The series is created, written by, and starring Sandy Honig (Isn’t It Romantic), Mitra Jouhari (High Maintenance), and Alyssa Stonoha (Rules of Cool). Honig plays Debra, with Jouhari playing Debra and Stonoha playing Debra. The series is directed by Anna Dokoza (Kevin Can F*ck Himself) and produced by Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Kim Lessing through “Paper Kite Productions.” Honig, Jouhari, Stonoha, and Dokoza also serve as producers.

According to Indie Wire, Three Busy Debras actually dates back to 2015 when Honig, Jouhari, and Stonoha first worked together to create a one-act play, which would go on to become a web series before Adult Swim ordered a pilot.

The trio, all members of the Upright Citizens Brigade improv and sketch community, first started working together in 2015 when they teamed up to perform for a weekly UCB show. What would become “Three Busy Debras” was born during their very first performance together, and the comedians soon turned it into both a one-act play and then a web series.

The Debras face a crisis in season 2

Gosh, don’t you just hate it when your kitchen sink sputters to a stop, robbing you of your daily glass of pure white milk? In this sneak peek at the upcoming season, Debra is distressed to find that her sink no longer provides milk. “Well hurry up and be a plumber, we’re getting thirsty,” says Debra. A news report interrupts their milking, revealing a truly nightmarish scenario—the anchor’s cohost is wearing the same outfit and neither will budge! GASP!

Oh, and the entire town is facing a milk drought. Milk rations will be given out until they run out, but it’s not something the Debras have to worry about. They’re Debras, after all.

The second season of Three Busy Debras will air on Adult Swim on April 24th at midnight. The episodes will also be available on HBO Max, which currently has all the episodes of the first season. This calls for a nice, solid cartwheel, right Debra and Debra? Oh, but not the other Debra, she didn’t make the club.
