The various powers of the X-Men would be pretty terrifying in real life. For example, Cyclops’ eye-beams? Pretty damn powerful and definitely the type of thing that should be regulated very carefully. Also, definitely not the type of thing that I would expect anybody to try to recreate in real life. Why would you want to shoot fire out of your eyeballs? Or, if not that, why would you want to shoot fire out of a tube that is very, very close to your eyeballs? Sounds bad.
Still, human beings must forge onward into the realm of terrifying experimentation, because … well, there really isn’t a reason beyond “why not?” This mega-realistic Cyclops visor, created by YouTuber Sufficiently Advanced, shoots out jets of flame that does some very serious damage to the objects in proximity to it. The flames don’t actually shoot as far forward as Cyclops’ eye-beams do in the X-Men movies, and thank goodness for that, because they already look incredibly dangerous here.
No one should make this, and no one should wear it, but hey. Someone did do that, and now we get to see it! Don’t try this at home, unless you are the literal person who tried this at home already, filmed it, and appears to have survived. No one else should try it, though.
This isn’t the only fantastical project that the Sufficiently Advanced team has put together. They also have created a real-life version of Thor’s hammer, as well as a real burning lightsaber, and what they call a “reverse Cerebro” helmet that messes with the wearer’s vestibular system. They plan to recreate more nerdy super-powered objects in real life, because their hubris knows no bounds. But also because this stuff makes for some pretty epic YouTube videos.
