TikTok’s latest relationship red flag didn’t come from a DM; it came in a sad little brown bag. One Los Angeles woman proudly revealed her boyfriend-packed lunch, only for the internet to collectively gasp at the crime scene.

Some shockers were the rogue Babybel, half a cookie, and two random bottles of water. But the showstopper? A crockpot-liner chicken pot pie sloshing around like a soup kitchen special. Suddenly, thousands of strangers online were asking the same brutal question: Does this man actually like her?

What Happened to her Lunch?

Curly-hair influencer Emma Rose (@emma.erdman) has caused quite a stir on TikTok. Her minute-long video currently has 3.5 million views and over 1,300 comments.

She prefaces the story by saying that her boyfriend wanted to pack her lunch. It also seems that she’s doing this at her work desk, as cubicles and computers can be seen behind her. In the background is presumably a co-worker.

Emma first pulls up the brown lunch bag and immediately notes its heavy weight. The first thing she pulls out is a plastic bag knotted at the top. It lands on her desk with a slap. She turns around to make eye contact with her co-worker, and they both laugh. Emma covers her mouth with her hand.

As a quick “back story,” Emma explains that she had cooked chicken pot pie in the crockpot, which had a liner in it. Apparently, the boyfriend saw it fit to send it in the tied liner rather than an actual Tupperware.

‘He Clearly Ate the Other Half’

The next thing she pulls out is a “whole bag of assorted nuts.” The nuts seem to be transferred from their container to a large Ziploc bag. In the back, the co-worker says, “Like, how far are you going?”

Emma laughs and pulls out the next bag, which is dried figs. The next items seem random and amusing to her. It’s two bottles of Spring water. She then pulls out “half of an Awan cookie” and comments that her boyfriend must have eaten the other half. After that, it’s an apple in a sandwich-sized Ziploc bag.

Then, it’s a BloomShirley Temple. Emma notes that she likes those. And for the finale, a lone Babybel cheese. Emma gathers all the items in her arms and closes off by saying, “We’re in bulking season, clearly.” In the background, the co-worker monotonously says, “Yum.” Emma’s caption simply states, “The weirdest combo of foods ever lol.”

‘1500 Calories of Nuts is Wild’

Needless to say, the internet has a lot to comment on. One viewer with over 30,000 likes says, “Girl this is not funny.” While another asks, “Does he like you?”

The crockpot meal baffles most viewers. One says, “The concept of pouring the food directly in a plastic bag.” Another says, “Girl he put an Apple in a bag but not the crock pot meal in a container!?!?”

Some viewers note the weird steps the boyfriend took.  One asks, “Why’s the apple in a plastic bag?” While another says, “1500 calories of nuts is wild.”

Of course, some comment on what this means for Emma’s relationship. “Dude clearly didn’t give two [expletive] about making your lunch,” says one comment with 20,000 likes. Another shares the same sentiment, saying, “A GUY WHO LUVS HIS WOMAN WOULD PUT MORE LUV & EFFORT INTO IT, JUST SAYIN.”

A third viewer writes, “Let me guess, we can not judge a relationship by a random video u posted and he is actually a great partner and we don’t know anything.”

Others are simply laughing at the sheer amount of food. “He said my girl will NOT go hungry today,” shares one viewer. Another says, “How long are you normally gone girl.”

A few comments are quite blunt. One viewer says, “When you ask a toddler to pack their own lunch ..” Another states, “Girl, you are too pretty for this FYI.”

Not the First Time

While Emma’s story may be baffling, she isn’t the first woman to experience such a situation. The Mary Sue covered a story where a woman posted a similar TikTok. In it, she forgot to pack a lunch for work and asked her husband to take it for her.

However, hers was a little more random. It was a countless number of unpackaged cookies, half a can of Pringles, and the worst part: a Ziploc bag of dog food. Apparently, the husband meant it as a joke and stuck a note calling the woman his “dawg.” Naturally, the internet also began rallying against the husband.
