I needed some hope. I shared this with my sociology professor, and he went to his bookshelf and took down <em>The Dispossessed</em> by Ursula K. Leguin. After that, you could say that a love affair bloomed, and when I finally sat down with some science fiction written by black women, my life was changed forever.
