ABC has picked up a drama pilot by Dean Georgaris, who on one hand wrote the screenplay for Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, and on the other hand wrote the screenplay for The Manchurian Candidate. (Not literally.)

The potential show goes by the name Clementine, and promises a lady with superpowers, or at least a cult that thinks she will get superpowers.

The drama centers on a habitual criminal who digs into the mystery of her origins after she becomes the target of a group of zealots who fear she possesses latent supernatural abilities that she will one day harness for either profound good or monstrous evil.

If I had to hazard a guess, those abilities will probably start showing up at or before the end of the first episode. But even if I’m wrong, it’s good to see a network looking for a supernatural drama choose one with a female lead. Maybe somebody’s been noticing the success of Orphan Black?
