Reality Star Who Boasted a ‘Hard-Work-Pays-Off’ Mindset has Her Lies Exposed After Duke University Called Out Fake Graduation Post
A high-profile social media influencer and reality TV star has been accused of lying about her business and university studies after a spokesman for Duke University confirmed she was never a student. Angel Victoria Murdock had amassed a sizeable following of 300,000 people who would listen to her inspirational videos glorifying the “hard-work-pays-off” mindset.
Murdock would frequently post about her real estate business, touting the profits she made month-on-month in her videos. According to the New York Post, she would frequently publish listings for expensive properties worth $300,000, giving house tours and posting pictures of her “clients.”
As well as the real estate business, she frequently made posts in which she spoke of her studies at Duke University, where she claimed to be studying in the Duke Physician Assistant Program. Her success online even translated into reality TV fame as she appeared as a temptress in six episodes of the Netflix dating show Temptation Island.
Angel Victoria Murdock gets called out
However, Murdock’s cultivated image as a hard-working, self-determined influencer quickly came undone after she made a post celebrating her graduation from Duke University. An image of Murdock in a graduation gown was posted along with a caption that reads, “Today, I get to look back and realize that every late night, every sacrifice, every setback and every prayer was leading me right here.”
However, not one of the 89 students in the program Murdock allegedly attended could say they ever saw her on campus or at social events at any point during the two-year course. Graduates also pointed out that her graduation gown was the wrong color.
Finally, a spokesman for the university confirmed to The Post that there was “no record of a student by the name of Angel Murdock having applied to or attended the Duke Physician Assistant Program.” Criticism online was swift and harsh; TikToker Lee Hammock labeled Murdock “highly narcissistic.” One person on X said, “She has a serious problem.”
The Post also revealed that Murdock’s claim that she completed a double major in Psychology and Biology at the University of North Carolina was also a lie. According to the university, she dropped out. Her
The real estate business was also a lie
The shocking twist has proven to many just how easy it is to lie online. But that’s not all. It was also revealed that Murdock was not listed as a licensed realtor in North Carolina or Georgia, despite her claims that she got her license in 2022. She claimed she worked at Howard Hanna Allen Tate Real Estate, but the business confirmed that Murdock had not been employed there either.
Impersonating a real estate broker is considered a class one misdemeanour in North Carolina, meaning Murdock could be in some real hot water. However, she is not currently under investigation, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department source.
