Woman Answers Her Door Expecting a Package. Then a Bomb Squad Orders Her Family To Immediately Evacuate: ‘Check This Grenade’

When you’re expecting a package, a knock at the door usually isn’t a big deal. You open the door, collect your delivery, and get on with your day. But one woman opened her door and found a police officer instead.
Things became even stranger when the officer asked how many people were inside her house. It was an unusual question to hear without knowing what was going on. The reason behind it quickly made the situation much more serious.
TikTok creator @divasweetiegirl claims she had been expecting a package when the officer arrived. Instead, he told her that her neighbors may have found a grenade in their basement and that her family needed to leave the house.
Well, that wasn’t the package she was expecting
In the video, the TikToker explains that she had just rushed to put some clothes on before answering the door. Instead of a delivery driver, she found what she describes as a police officer “towering” over her. “Sorry this is a bit of a weird one but your neighbours might have found a grenade in their basement and it would be good if you could evacuate,” she recalls him telling her.
After the officer asked whether there were many people inside, the woman ran back to alert her family. “Evacuate, evacuate,” she remembers telling them. Everyone left the house with their dog and moved across the street.
Once outside, it became clear that the warning was serious. A police car was parked nearby, and the area had been blocked off with police tape. The family reportedly waited for around an hour for the bomb squad to arrive to “check this grenade” and take it away.
Finding old military weapons in unexpected places isn’t unheard of. People have even discovered anti-tank missiles while clearing out their property, which makes calling in experts a pretty reasonable response when something that looks like a grenade suddenly turns up.
The TikToker eventually went to a park and got food with her siblings while authorities dealt with the object. But what the family reportedly learned afterward made the situation even more concerning.
According to the woman, the bomb squad was unable to determine whether the grenade had previously gone off. “So it genuinely could have been a live grenade that they randomly found when they were clearing out their basement,” she explains.
That uncertainty alone can make an unexpected find a serious concern. Even old cannonballs found inside luggage have prompted authorities to bring in explosives specialists when it wasn’t immediately clear whether they were dangerous.
Some viewers admitted they would have been suspicious of the unexpected knock. “My first instinct is not to trust anyone so I was like what if this is some sort of scam or something,” one wrote. Another commented, “I would thought he was tryna kidnap me the minute he said is there many people in the house.”
Others weren’t as surprised. “My area got heavily bombed during the world war, so they always find bombs every couple years and block off the streets,” one viewer wrote. Another simply commented, “omg how scary.”
What started as an ordinary knock at the door ended with an evacuation and a visit from the bomb squad. With no clear answer on whether the grenade had already gone off, that package was probably the last thing on her mind. The TikToker’s account of the incident has not been independently verified.
