Man Goes to Lake in Indiana. When He Sees Another Man Threatening To Drown Children, He Steps In: ‘They Weren’t Even My Kids’

A man visiting an Indiana lake allegedly hears another adult threatening to “drown” kids. He says “Dad Mode” was activated against his will.
TikTok creator Justin Credible (@_justin_credible) was visiting Fairfax Beach on Lake Monroe when the incident occurred.
The video shows Credible approaching the water’s edge near where people are swimming. It appears that another man said something to a group of nearby kids and Credible wants to hear it again.
“Yeah, that’s my kid,” he yells. “Hey. What’d he say to my kid? He said that to my kid? Come out and say it to me. You’re gonna drown a kid?”
Why Did This Man Threaten to ‘Drown’ Kids At Indiana Lake?
In the caption, Credible reveals the twist. “These weren’t even my kids,” he wrote. “But when I saw a grown man in the water threatening to drown them, Dad Mode kicked in. I stepped in like they were mine and stood up for them. This is what happened.”
The comments section delivered the customary hype. “Legend has it that man lives in the water now,” one person said.
“Yours. Mine. All kids are off limits. Thank you, sir,” a second person said.
A third person joked, “I need your address for Father’s Day cards next June. Please and thank you.”
Another person said, “I LOVE your daughter in the background [saying], ‘Come on! You heard him!’ I’d be just as hype if this was my dad.”
A Similar Story About a Man Threatening Another Person’s Child
It’s difficult to discern what happened in this incident apart from Credible’s side of the story. However, a Texas woman reported a similar instance of harassment directed at her son as he fished last November.
In this case, the 14-year-old caught the adult man on tape threatening him with drowning over a perceived violation of state parks and wildlife regulations. The boy’s mother did call authorities, but law enforcement said it is difficult to charge him with misdemeanor assault by threat due to the fact that the man didn’t create an “imminent” danger.
Under Indiana law, threatening another person with the intent of scaring them into doing (or not doing) something can be considered misdemeanor intimidation. That can escalate to a felony depending on the circumstances, in particular if the accused person brandished a weapon during the event.
Is It ‘Right’ for a Man to Step in Here?
In terms of morality, a Reddit user posted to r/askfeminists about a situation in which a woman’s life was threatened while other adult men stood by without intervening. They asked if it’s healthy to want men to stand up in situations like this, which is a sentiment that was widespread in Credible’s comments section.
“We should all feel more obligation to help one another,” one person said. “Wanting anyone nearby to intervene is human and rational.”

“I’m a woman and I have stopped muggings and broken up fights, foolhardy or not, because I do it instinctively as the right thing to do,” a second person said. “We are trying to have a society here. Don’t stand around while someone is being assaulted.”
