His date had a strange fascination for his shirt.

Austin Man Wore the Same AllSaints Shirt as His Date. The Date Wouldn't Let it Go Until He Bought a Shirt from Nordstrom.

Meeting the right one is tough, and some people end up with more dating horror stories than they’d hope for. When Coll Sharp (@coll.sharp) from Austin, Texas, went out with someone he’s been seeing for a couple of months, he didn’t expect his date to be more fixated on his AllSaints shirt throughout the day.

“What you need to understand is that there’s so much male ego twisted up in these situations that it’s very rare to meet someone who is nice and kind and genuine and complimentary of you and is not in competition with you,” Sharp told TikTok. As a gay man, Sharp also believes that many in his community grow up unhealed, leading him to meet unsuitable partners. Regardless of gender and sexuality, many people struggle to deal with rude dates. One from New York even had to defend herself against a harsh message she got from her Hinge date’s mother.

“I was kind of seeing this guy for two and a half-ish months, and I don’t know what kind of spell I was under that I thought this was the one for me at all, besides the stark fear of ending up alone,” he continued. Sharp said he could feel that the relationship with the man was starting to burn away. Nevertheless, he chose to meet up with him for a date at the mall.

They spent roughly three hours checking out pants. His date allegedly kept complaining about having to get some pants he saw tailored, which Sharp thought was “insufferable.” Regardless, Sharp said he tolerated his date’s antics.

“Why are you wearing that?” his date suddenly asked, supposedly looking him up and down. Sharp said he was wearing a black AllSaints T-shirt and shorts at the time, which didn’t seem suspicious.

An obsession with his AllSaints shirt

Sharp clarified the question, confused by his date’s tone. Then, his date followed up with, “Why are you wearing that AllSaints T-shirt?” But the second question did little to clarify his date’s point, so Sharp asked again.

“You’re only wearing that because I’m wearing an AllSaints shirt,” his date allegedly said. Sharp said he had no idea what his date was going to wear to the mall. He also claimed that the man’s shirt was tan and had a different design from his.

“To be honest with you, this is just the first thing I pulled off from my dryer,” Sharp said. “It’s really not a big deal. I didn’t understand AllSaints was such an underground, private bang,” he sarcastically remarked. He also explained that AllSaints is one of the first few brands he spots whenever he shops at Nordstrom. Ever since bringing the shirt up, Sharp said his date wouldn’t let the issue go.

“We cannot go to dinner wearing the same shirt,” the man supposedly told Sharp. Some people would probably walk away from this situation the first chance they’d get, like this woman who walked out on a date after he made a vile suggestion before paying the bill. But Sharp stayed and bought a $30 GTX Oil T-Shirt, all so he could save the night and have dinner with the man.

A date that dragged on far too long

“We get to dinner. He’s horrible at the place,” Sharp said. Despite having changed clothes, apparently, his date was still critical of the shirt he bought. But again, Sharp didn’t bill out and even continued the date to watch a movie with the man.

Despite his horrendous experience, Sharp said he went out with the man for another night. The experience did not improve, and Sharp accused his date of ditching him, going into the bathroom with a group of men, and buying illicit substances. Sharp eventually ended their relationship weeks later but was called a “redneck” by the man.

“I won’t be seeing him again. Lesson learned,” Sharp said. It was a hard lesson learned, but not everyone knows when to cut their losses.
