New York City Woman Flies United to Chicago To Meet a Man. Then He Locks Her out of Their Shared Marriott Room

A New York City woman is issuing a PSA about getting a hotel room with a beau: be careful when booking a suite with them in a new city, because they might get you kicked out of the hotel.

A TikToker who goes by the alias Ice Queen (@icequeen4113) posted a video that received more than 3,000 views. In it, she described how she got a hotel room with a potential partner, only to be forced out after a drunken dispute.

A United flight to Chicago

The New York-based content creator explained that she met her ex-date in Pittsburgh. After talking for a while, he invited her to go on a trip with him.

“We had just been talking, and he asked me to go to Chicago with him for the Fourth of July,” she said. “He was really nice … He seemed … like a protector in a way, you know?”

She didn’t see any red flags, so she decided to take the trip. He purchased her flight, and she ended up in Chicago. He also purchased her flight back home and a hotel room at a Marriott location, which, according to her, cost $1,300. As soon as she landed, she headed to the Marriott to check in and put her card down for incidentals.

They settled into the suite. Ice Queen got her nails done and put the charge on the room, and they began exploring Chicago together.

Then they went out one fateful evening.

A trip to the bar goes horribly

Ice Queen went out with her date, his cousin, and her boyfriend. By chance, Ice Queen also happened to run into a man she knew from her hometown gym. The situation was coincidental.

Ice Queen recalled that she didn’t know him that well. She said she spent around five minutes speaking to him and assumed her date was preoccupied with his cousin.

While she was speaking to the man she knew, a server brought Jell-O shots around. She asked her date whether he’d purchase one, but he didn’t say anything.

She continued chatting with the other guy, but eventually he left. When she looked back, she realized that her date hadn’t purchased a Jell-O shot. She assumed it was because she was chatting.

That’s when she pushed a blue Jell-O shot toward her date. It accidentally spilled on him, and an upheaval began. His entire entourage began to chastise her for spilling the Jell-O shot on his T-shirt.

“His cousin freaked out and was like, ‘Don’t do that to my cousin,’ and la, da, da. Really freaked out, and then so did her boyfriend. Her boyfriend got mad also, and they were like, uh, they were like, ‘Don’t do that. Um, you should leave… Go hang out with your friend,’” Ice Queen recalled.

Ice Queen said she was drunk and frustrated. She went outside to cool off. Later, she tried to call her date, only to realize that he had blocked her.

She has to make her way back to the hotel alone

Ice Queen said she was incredibly surprised that her date abandoned her in the middle of Chicago.

“He invites me to Chicago and the second I’m away from him he just blocks me, doesn’t care if I’m safe, like whatever,” she added. Despite this, she decided to just Uber back to the hotel.

She didn’t have a room key on her. When she arrived, she decided to go to the front desk. Luckily, they allowed her to check back into the suite, but she almost didn’t get into their shared room. She theorized that her ex-date tried to remove her from the shared reservation.

“He tried to make it so I couldn’t get into the room and he blocked me,” she said.

When she got to the room, she took a bath and cooled off. Then she heard a pounding on the front door.

Her date arrives and asks her to leave

Ice Queen had deadlocked the front door of their shared suite. So when her date arrived at the front door, he wasn’t able to immediately come in. She went to the door and opened it. That’s when she realized he had brought security with him.

“It’s him and security, and he wants me kicked out of the room. He wanted me to leave. It’s 3a.m., by the way. At 3a.m., I’m in these pajamas, and he wanted me to leave,” she said.

She let security know that she had no intention of leaving. Employees at the Marriott location went downstairs to discuss the matter. After some time, they came back and told Ice Queen that her date said he felt unsafe with her in the hotel room.

“I’m like, ‘I’m not leaving. I have nowhere to go. Like, I can’t, like, just book another hotel room. It’s so expensive to stay in Chicago. I’m not gonna do that. He needs to just come upstairs and go to bed,’” she said.

She gets kicked out anyway

In a subsequent video, Ice Queen shared that the Marriott asked her to leave the property.

“They tell me it’s their policy because he booked and paid for the room,” she said. “He’s the owner of the room, that he’s entitled to do that, and that’s just their policy.”

Marriott Bonvoy employees allegedly told her they would call the police if she didn’t vacate the premises. They also allegedly said that both individuals could be removed from the hotel if they didn’t resolve the dispute. Ice Queen said for that reason only, she believes her date booked her a separate room at a different property.

She decided to stay anyway, and Chicago police arrived at the hotel. They then told her she had to pack her stuff and leave the Marriott room.

When she left, she didn’t say anything to her former trip partner.

Later on, she said her date tried to cancel her United flight back home. Instead of fully canceling the trip, United gave her a flight credit to rebook. She spoke with her date, and he allegedly claimed he did nothing wrong; she had a hotel and a rebooked flight regardless.

Commenters say it’s a hard lesson learned

Overall, viewers said that Ice Queen learned a hard lesson for the future.

“You didn’t need a part 2. Take this as a life lesson,” one viewer said. “Always introduce people you know to each other. Always carry the hotel key. Never share hotel rooms with complete strangers in random cities. I’m sure I’m missing more, but these were hard listens.”

Ice Queen said the Marriott Bonvoy hotel policy was not women-friendly, but viewers emphasized that most hotels have similar policies. It’s unclear whether the hotel itself considered her a registered occupant or a third-party guest. Marriott has a very clear third-party guest policy.

Marriott explicitly states that “the hotel reserves the right to take action directly against you, including your removal from the hotel premises, for your actions where it is deemed in the best interest of the hotel to do so, and you consent to such,” in regard to third-party guests.

For registered occupants, it’s less clear. But some viewers said that Ice Queen’s experience accurately reflected the hotel chain’s rules.

“I worked a Marriott ….in ny and this is accurate policy ….kinda like you’re the cosigner . it’s ridiculous ,he couldve talked to you at least..had a conversation about how he felt,” one viewer said.
