Marvel Studios’ Hall H Panel Unveils a New Black Panther, ‘Doomsday’ Teaser, and Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider

In a way, it’s a San Diego Comic-Con tradition: Marvel Studios bringing its newest projects (and some major surprises) to Hall H. With Avengers: Doomsday just months away from being released — and already having broken the Internet earlier this week with the unveiling of their first teaser trailer — this year’s panel was sure to be absolutely no exception. So, what were the biggest reveals? Keep reading to find out.

Before the panel, every attendee gets a Doom mask and cape. H.E.R.B.I.E. rolls out onstage, says hi to the audience and sings Franklin’s lullaby, before wheeling away.

The panel officially begins with a sizzle reel of past MCU movies, and eventually, the Fox X-Men movies. Kevin Feige takes the stage and welcomes the crowd. He shouts out outgoing Marvel Comics EIC CB Cebulski and new EIC Brad Walker, both of whom are in the audience. Feige mentions Vision Quest and X-Men ’97, but says today’s focus is mainly movies. He also teases the Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release, then a trailer plays. It’s mostly existing footage, with one video of an opening night audience reaction folded in. It confirms that Encore will have an exclusive look at Doomsday.

Feige shouts out Josh Horowitz, who has been asking about one very specific project in interviews for years now. Josh is given a microphone and asks about it again: Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider. Gosling takes the stage and talks about how excited he is to take on the role. Feige says that there was only one director who could direct the movie: Shawn Levy, who just collaborated with Gosling on Star Wars: Starfighter. Ghost Rider will be released in 2028.

Feige begins to tee up Doomsday, only to be interrupted by Jon Bernthal, who points out to Feige that there is a movie coming out very soon. Feige argues that it’s too soon to show footage for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, since it’s out in just a matter of days. Bernthal doesn’t care and tees up an exclusive clip anyway.

In the clip, Spider-Man fights Hulk in a hallway, Punisher shows up. It’s a fun fight scene: at one point, Peter webs Frank and drags him across the floor while he shoots at Bruce in slow motion. Once they get to safety, Peter says that Frank was supposed to watch MJ, but she asked about him and he came to help. Peter gets flustered, Frank jokes he’s blushing under his mask. Peter needs to put the inhibitor on Bruce to dampen his powers. 

Joe and Anthony Russo are brought onstage for Avengers: Doomsday, and shout out the fans who are in the very back of Hall H. They suggest that they should turn the back of Hall H into the front of it, and suddenly two side stages are revealed in the back corners. James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Hannah John-Kamen, Tenoch Huerta, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Kelsey Grammer, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Paul Rudd, and Winston Duke are across the two stages. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell join the main stage, as does Robert Downey Jr., accompanied by new music by Alan Silvestri.

The cast from the two side stages make their way to the front, as Downey spends the entire time vamping. Once everyone is onstage, they take a group selfie. Feige asks questions that he says are from fans who waited overnight in Hall H. “Is Doom more powerful than Thanos?” Joe Russo asks the crowd to answer, and they give a resounding yes. “Do Reed and Doom have a history together in Doomsday?” Pascal very cheerfully says: “Besties!”

Before Feige can ask the third question, Downey points out a guy in the audience with swords. It’s Ryan Reynolds, in a grey Deadpool costume. He does a bit that lasts several minutes, claiming to be a fan with two questions for the cast. He asks Paul Rudd why Thor was crying, and Rudd responds: “He’s a Wrexham fan?”

He then asks: “This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film, when does it start shooting?” Before awkwardly being told that it’s already filmed. After joking that there won’t be any more additional photography, he leaves. 

New Doomsday Footage!

An exclusive teaser for Doomsday plays: Sue, while crying, is telling the Avengers and the Wakandans about Doom. “Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. He used to be different. He used to be kind, used to be caring. But then everything he loved was taken from him. I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken.” Doom looks at the massive portrait of his wife and child that’s from the first teaser poster. 

We see small snippets of footage: Scott and Cassie, Thor and Love, Steve holding his baby, a new shot of Scott in his costume, Johnny cradling Franklin as (what looks like) an Incursion looms overhead. Narration from Doom says: “All of you have lived stolen lives and now you must give them back.” He leaps out of his tower and lands on the ground with a tuck and roll. Reed pleads with him: “Victor, did you do this?!”

Thor tells Doom: “I swear, you will beg for hell long before I grant it,” before striking. Doom immediately sends him flying and says “Hell answers to me.” He commands a bunch of Sentinels to rise out of the ground.

And finally, Feige has one more announcement. He talks about the MCU’s roster of directors who have helmed multiple projects, even after they’ve won Oscars. A title card for Black Panther III hits the screen. He brings out Ryan Coogler, who brings Letitia Wright and Winston Duke back out. He offers three pieces of news: Black Panther III will be released on December 15, 2028; he’s shooting it on film; and T’Challa Jr will need to be aged up for the story.

He introduces Alien Romulus and The Long Walk star David Jonsson, who is warmly embraced by the crowd. Jonsson says that he can’t say much, but that he’s excited to leave it all “on the screen.”
