Teen Mom Goes to Walmart Alone With Her One-Year-Old. Then She Walks Out and He’s Standing at Her Car: ‘If They Were Trying to Hurt Me’
Trust your gut.

17-year-old mom Sofy Rodriguez posted a chilling account of a stranger’s unsettling behavior while she was shopping alone with her one-year-old son, and the story has since sparked widespread concern about personal safety in everyday spaces.
Sofy (@its_sofyrodriguez) detailed her experience in a TikTok video that has racked up hundreds of thousands of views. She was at Walmart to pick up ingredients for a hair mask while her boyfriend was at work.
What started as a routine errand quickly turned into a nerve-wracking ordeal when a man in a black truck began intensely staring at her as she unloaded her baby from the car. The situation escalated when he approached her to say her car lights were still on. Sofy brushed it off at first, assuming it was a simple mistake. But things took a darker turn when she returned from shopping to find the same man standing at her car.
She immediately called her mom, who is trained in safety protocols, and followed a series of precautions to ensure she wasn’t being followed or targeted.
She had a weird feeling, and she didn’t ignore it
Sofy said she didn’t think much of the man’s behavior at first, chalking it up to a coincidence. But when he didn’t stop staring, her guards went up. When he told her the lights on her car were still on, she realized she had left the interior light on. She turned it off and continued into the store, but the uneasy feeling lingered.
Inside, she went about her shopping, picking up ingredients for soup dumplings and the hair mask she planned to make. She didn’t notice anyone following her, but she admitted she wasn’t actively looking for threats at the time. When she finished and headed back to her car, she saw the man standing right next to it. The moment she spotted him, he ran back to his own vehicle. Sofy’s instincts kicked in immediately. She didn’t get into her car.
Instead, she called her mom, who instructed her to return to the store and wait for her uncle, a military veteran, to arrive. Her uncle met her in the parking lot and told her to drive to his house while he followed behind to see if anyone was tailing her. Sofy, still shaken, kept her mom and uncle on a three-way call the entire time. As she pulled out of the parking lot, she noticed another truck with a different man inside leaving at the same time.
She didn’t see either vehicle again after that, but the experience left her deeply unsettled. When she arrived at her uncle’s house, he checked her car for trackers or anything suspicious but found nothing out of the ordinary. To this day, Sofy doesn’t know what the men’s intentions were. She doesn’t know if they were trying to harm her or her son, or if it was all just a bizarre coincidence. What she does know is that she’s grateful she took precautions, just in case.
For Sofy, the takeaway was clear. She advises women to be careful, even if they don’t think a situation is serious. Her video ends with a plea for kindness, asking viewers to refrain from negative comments.
