Chicago Woman Wanted Date to Pay for a $120 Pedicure. He Drove Away Before Footing the Bill 'I Don't Even Like Feet.'

There are people out there who’d swipe left on Hinge if they could turn back time. Christian Cooks (@christiancooks99) from Chicago thought he was going on a pleasant date with a woman he met on the app. But their date ended before they could even have a meal together after the woman told him to pay for her pedicure.

As this is a TikTok video, it is the poster’s own account of events and should not be treated as verified fact. Cooks disclosed his standards upfront. He wanted a woman with a house of her own who has no kids. That’s when he matched with a woman whom he nicknamed “Lady.”

“I checked all your boxes,” Lady said through the message. She confirmed that she owns an apartment and has no children of her own. From there, Lady and Cooks started talking. It lasted about a week and went well enough for him to ask her out on a date. She asked to be picked up at a specific address, and Cooks assumed that was where she lives.

As he got closer to the location, he realized that there were no houses or apartments in the area. By the time he pulled up, he was at a strip mall. It had a Chipotle, a Starbucks, and a nail salon, but there were no houses to be found.

Cooks was confused at first, then Lady messaged him. She said she was still at the nail salon, and she invited him to come in and wait for her.

He thought it was odd, but he went in anyway. She was still getting her pedicure done. At first, she apologized because her nail appointment was taking longer than expected. While she was having her nails done, she said she was excited to meet him and that she was looking forward to dinner.

She wanted him to pay for her pedicure

“It’s an awkward way to meet someone—at a nail salon. I did not see this coming. I thought I was picking her up from her apartment,” Cooks said. But he stayed and chatted with her anyway.

But midway through the conversation, Lady brought up the pedicure price.

“Hey, it’s going to be $120. Is that okay?” Cooks didn’t understand why she was bringing the price up.

“Pedicure’s going to be around $120. I just wanted to look really good for you. Is that okay?” she clarified, fully expecting Cooks to foot the bill for her pedicure.

“Oh, you want me to cover it?” Cooks asked again, and the woman agreed.

“Well, yeah. I’m getting ready for a date with you,” she said. When it all sank in, Cooks agreed to pay for the pedicure. Lady was giddy when he agreed, and she even gave him the freedom to pick which color of nail polish she should go with.

Cooks literally picked the third color he saw in the catalog. He was not amused by how Lady thrust the bill on him. But while picking the color, he cooked up a devious idea.

He pulled an Uno Reverse

“Why don’t we add a few things?” Cooks suggested that she do the callus peels and alkaline treatment on top of the pedicure. The nail tech lit up, and Lady was impressed. Cooks compared Lady’s reaction to Mr. Krabs seeing money.

Cooks told her that he’ll wait at the front and that she should just call him once it’s time to pay. About ten minutes later, he went back and saw that the nail tech was already starting the other treatments. When it was time to pay, Cooks started patting his pockets for his wallet. He told her that he’d be right back because he had left his wallet in the car.

“I walked out of the nail salon, walked into my car, sat my ass right down in my seat, and I drove away,” he revealed. Cooks never planned to pay for the nail appointment—not even the additional services he added on.

“I left her in the nail salon. Because why would you think that if I was offering to take you out to dinner, you thought I was going to pay for, at a minimum, $120 plus tip for you to get a pedicure?” Cooks said, still appalled by his experience. He added, “I don’t even like feet.”

Although he admitted that what he did might be “a little messed up,” Cooks hoped that she would learn a lesson. Nevertheless, he didn’t let his dinner reservation go to waste. So, he still went and had dinner by himself. Lady kept blowing his phone up, and he eventually had to block her. Lady has not commented on the story.

Needless to say, this one ended up as another dating horror story.
