‘That was my secret spot for months’: L.A. man goes to Fogo de Chão. Then he shows how you can eat there for $10

It’s no secret that dining out at an upscale restaurant is expensive. With prices already astronomical, it transforms this from a rarity to a luxury.

And the numbers reflect it. Yahoo Finance reported that food away from home has jumped 3.6% annually. However, there is a loophole in certain establishments if you thoroughly search for them. Enter Los Angeles food aficionado Derek (@munch.la), who is sharing a secret to eating at Fogo de Chão without breaking the bank.

What’s The Fogo de Chão Menu Hack?

“Many of you know about that deal, but some of you do not,” he says, standing in front of a green screen of the Brazilian steakhouse’s happy hour menu. “This is for those who do not know.”

Then, Derek spills the tea. “Fogo de Chão actually has a really good happy hour at their bar. They’re most known for the $10 Picana Burger, which is an absolute steal,” he says, pointing to the item at the bottom of the screen.

So, is there a catch? According to the content creator, there isn’t. “It’s all day and comes with a side of crispy polenta,” he explains.

But there are several affordable options besides the famous burger. “My personal favorite and the one that got me hooked through their all-you-can-eat menu is their blistered cheese with honey,” Derek reveals. “This is A1, and I’m so glad you can get this on the side without paying for the whole experience.”

He expresses his candid thoughts in the caption, “Great value here imo, but overall lukewarm on the general Fogo experience.”

What Did Viewers Think?

Derek’s video racked up over 679,000 views, incentivizing many to rush to their nearest Fogo de Chão.

“I’m bout to treat myself,” one viewer commented.

“Ugh now I have to try this,” another stated.

“I didn’t know about their happy hour. This is my [husband’s] favorite restaurant. Now I need to go back just for their Happy Hour,” a third said.

Meanwhile, others were less than thrilled about the cat being out of the bag.

“Delete this now!!! I do not need competition at the bar,” one commenter remarked.

“That was my secret spot for months,” a second wrote, accompanied by a face-palm emoji.

Does This Apply To All Locations?

Indeed, it does. This menu is available all day, every day, and customers can choose from five options to eat at the bar or patio. For $6, there are the Queijo Assado (aka blistered cheese with honey, which Derek recommends), Spiced Chicken Sliders, Saucy Legs, and Brazilian Empanadas. Of course, the famous Picana Burger is priced at $10. 

However, the Churrasco experience is a different story. At $45, the chefs slice and serve round-the-clock, multicourse, fire-roasted meats and house specialties at the tableside, according to Fogo de Chão’s FAQ section.

Although there is a rhythm and flow to it, the customer has control over the pace. First, customers chow down on salads, vegetables, feijoada, and soups as often as their hearts desire. Next are the sides to enjoy, followed by the main dishes. Just note that prices may vary for the Happy Hour and Experience.
