Croatian Artist Interrogates Her New Date about His past Relationships and Ends up Running as Fast as She Could: ‘Do You Want to Go to a Hotel?’

How did he not realize that was creepy?

Croatian artist interrogates her new date about his past relationships and ends up running as fast as she could: ‘Do you want to go to a hotel?’

Transparency is usually a green flag in the early stages of dating. But for Croatian artist Stella Scholaja (TikTok@stellscholaja), a date’s hotel room story was so chaotic she had to exit the building immediately.

In a viral recount, Stella detailed the moment her investigation into a man’s dating history turned into a horror story. The story involved a hotel room, a pregnancy scare, and ghosting. And the moral was if everyone is ghosting someone, there is usually a very loud, very awkward reason why. So, Stella ran from the man, asap.

A date’s ‘ghosting’ history prompted an interrogation

Stella’s date evening took a sharp turn when her date mentioned that nearly every woman he has ever met ended up ghosting him. Sensing a pattern that needed exploring, Stella began to interrogate him about his most recent romantic outing.

To her surprise, he was very transparent. But it didn’t work out in his favor. The man described a previous date where there was zero chemistry and literally no conversation. He claimed that his date only offering one-word answers like “yes” or “no.”

The lack of chemistry led to a bizarre ‘hotel’ proposal

Stella was perplexed as to why the man didn’t just end the failing date. And his response was a masterclass in poor judgment. “I just thought I would ask her to go to a hotel because I knew it wouldn’t lead to anything serious,” he said.

To Stella’s shock, the woman actually agreed, and the night resulted in a subsequent pregnancy scare. The pair only met a second time to confirm she wasn’t pregnant. To make it worse, they bizarrely “celebrated” the negative result together as a second and final date.

Stella chose a polite exit over a potential hotel room invite

Stunned by the story and the man’s apparent lack of social awareness, Stella decided the date was officially over. Rather than becoming another name on his long list of “ghosts,” she chose directness.

She politely asked him if he was “crazy” before ending the interaction then and there. Stella concluded the video with a warning to her audience: when a date tells you why they’re single, believe them the first time.

The psychology of the unvetted confession

Over-sharing is often a tactic used by individuals with low social intelligence or those who lack boundaries. By confessing a chaotic story involving a hotel invite on a first date, Stella’s date was demonstrating an inability to read the room.

This type of behavior, i.e., asking for extreme intimacy when there is no established connection, is a major red flag for impulsivity. It might also signal a lack of respect for the dating process for many people.

On the brighter side, Stella’s “investigation” worked exactly as intended. It provided the facts needed to realize that the “ghosting” her date experienced wasn’t bad luck. That was just a natural reaction to his behavior.

How to vet a date’s romantic history safely

If a match claims they are always being ghosted, follow Stella’s lead to find out the truth. Ask for the specifics of just one past date. As Stella found, the details of how they handle a “bad” date tell you more than a dozen good ones.

If every story ends with them being the “wronged” party without any self-reflection, you are likely talking to the problem. So, watch out for the victim mentality.

If it matters to you, you shoukd also evaluate the intimacy timeline. A person who proposes a hotel stay when there is “no conversation” is someone who views dating as a transaction rather than a connection.

Stella is officially closed for hotel invites

Stella’s worst date saga is currently doing the rounds as a manual for what not to say if you ever want a second meeting. While the man in her story is still trying to solve the mystery of his ghosted inbox, Stella is busy proving that some conversations are better ended with a polite exit than a message left on “read.”

We’re hoping Stella’s next artistic inspiration comes from a date who actually knows how to hold a conversation. But take her lead and keep your interrogation skills sharp and your running shoes laced.
