ICE Tries to Rebrand and Instead Feels Like “Propaganda From the Daredevil Show”
America has made a lot of choices recently that don’t make sense, but the new ICE “rebranding” just might be the worst of them all. Ignoring the fact that they think we will all just forget what happened earlier this year with Renee Good and Alex Pretti, they actually haven’t done much–if anything–to prove they actually do care about innocent civilians.
“ICE is NICE” is insulting not just to the general American public, but to those whose lives they target and whose lives they have ruined. As a user on X put it, “This legit feels like the propaganda from the Daredevil show, this is beyond parody.”
Another said “This is literally the safer streets BB report propaganda, we need a City Without Fear counter.”
Unfortunately, I feel like it is safe to say that Daredevil would handle it better than it is actually being handled. That is to say, the people writing it understand that those they’re parodying are awful. It brings to mind The Boys, and how consistently the people that the show are criticizing are the ones who are fans of the show and don’t see how problematic their behavior is.
Stop supporting ICE
I was curious, so I wanted to see who could become a Deportation Officer. Surely, I thought, there has to be a rigorous process to weed out candidates. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Direct from the website, the requirements for this position are astoundingly low, especially including education:
- U.S. citizenship
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Be eligible to carry a firearm.
- Previous experience in a primary (rigorous) law enforcement position.
- Successfully completed basic law enforcement training.
Reddit goes even deeper to show that the fitness test requirements are also lax. Simply put: They aren’t trying hard to screen out applicants who are in it for a power trip. No matter what kind of propaganda they try to push, the world will always know that ICE is made up of bullies on a power trip.
A rebrand isn’t going to help, either. The damage is already done, and it is permanent. The only people who are going to buy this are the ones who support it. “ICE is NICE”? Nice would be limiting the power these officers have. Nice would be leaving innocent civilians alone, not targeting them based on their skin color.
Nice means nice try. ICE belongs in our water, not in our streets.
