‘Lady started following me’: Woman shops at Goodwill. Then she has to hide in the fitting room after she experiences ‘an introvert’s worst nightmare’

A place like Goodwill can either feel like a treasure trove or a pile of random items, depending on how good you are at spotting pieces or styling them. Or, if you’re lucky, whether you have a friend who can do both and is willing to come with you.

But one TikTok creator says some customers have unusual shopping techniques.

Fashion content creator @toohardtokill shared a video that has garnered over 1.2 million views, showing herself hiding in a fitting room after an unexpected interaction while shopping.

What Happened At Goodwill?

“Hiding in the fitting room at Goodwill bc this lady started following me while I was shopping saying ‘I usually pick a cute girl in the store and make her my personal helper and today that’s YOU,’” she wrote in the video’s text overlay.

In the clip, she appears visibly uncomfortable as she stays inside the fitting room.

She added more context in the caption.

“It’s giving ‘you have now been promoted, you are now one of my elite employees’… an introverts worst nightmare in public,” she wrote.

Commenters Try To Make Sense Of It

In the comments, viewers were mostly confused by the situation and how it even started.

“Do you work there I’m so confused, does she just pick a random person,” one person wrote.

“She picks ppl based off of looks. No I do not work there,” the creator responded.

Others said they’ve had similar experiences.

“I had someone similar one time say ‘you have great taste, I’m gonna follow you around and shop..’” another added. “and I just thought to myself no pleaseeee do not.”

Some joked about how they would handle it. “I make it a rule to never work for free,” a third wrote. “gonna be paying for my time and since this ain’t my job it’s gonna be 3x the normal rate.”

Not The First Strange Experience At Goodwill

While this situation may sound unusual, netizens have shared similar encounters online.

One user on r/Goodwill, for example, said an older woman approached her and repeatedly stopped her to point out a $19 jacket, even though it was nothing special, leaving her wondering whether she was asking for their opinion.

Another person on r/mesaAZ said a man appeared to follow their teenage daughter around the store, moving sections to stay near them until he noticed her partner and quickly left.

On r/creepyencounters, a user described a man inching closer while pretending to browse, watching her and her family as they moved through the store, and even during checkout, which left her feeling tense and unsettled.
